And you don't think it's even a wee bit suspect that we received an explanation of Cobra benefits right before a leaked and planned layoff of ~3000 people? Ok.

I have never received a letter like this here in all of my years. We get these explanations when we sign up for and renew benefits, not just out of the blue.

I worked there for 15 years and recall getting that letter even during the “hay day”. It struck me odd because I was young at the time and didn’t know what Cobra was and had to ask someone. I think it’s likely just a badly timed, necessary notification. I get that everyone is antsy; but, this may just be a normal US employer required notification. I am not there anymore - left on my own accord to avoid this roller coaster - so I literally know nothing, like the rest of you. However wanted to share this because I know I received that letter as a home office employee during no threats of layoffs.

Yes everyone got the letter. HR has been conducting audits. I’ve been here for over 9 years and just went to Kelly Services to sign my I9 form after an audit!

Now saying all that, my conspiracy theory mind wants to say they are doing these audits to make sure all i’s are dotted and t’s crossed for a layoff. But that’s all speculation. End of the day - I’ve been doing this for a very long time and the only constant in pharma is CHANGE! We complain cause it sucks and we wish these were more secure jobs but in reality they aren’t and they never have been! I was laid off from my first company 4 years into the start of my career. And it’s been a 20 year roller coaster ride! Get off the ride if you can’t handle the uncertainty. And buckle up if you can! Lol!

Sounds to me like you've only worked in the pharm industry for your entire career.

It aint just Big Pharma Pal. You just accurately described what life is like for all employees working in corporate America. Go ahead and get off the ride, but where you might land wont be much better.

TRUTH ever since 2007/08 not one career is a safe career in corporate and especially not in healthcare. We get to be both.
