Intuitive Surgical pays $43m to settle class actions

"the company and a select number of its officers violated federal securities laws by “making false and misleading statements and omitting certain material facts in certain public safety statements and in the company’s filings with the SEC,” according to Intuitive’s 10Q filing.

Looks like this about to happen again... Intuitive Surgical still is not been properly reporting adverse events or recalls as required by federal laws. Add that to the looming trade war and added tariffs to it's 1.5 million dollar defective machine. Analyst see a fall in ISRG's future again. It's no wonder the CEO's are cashing out ahead of the earning report.

... "Director Lonnie M. Smith sold 265 shares of the company’s stock in a transaction on Monday, May 14th. The stock was sold at an average price of $465.13, for a total transaction of $123,259.45. Following the completion of the sale, the director now directly owns 466,470 shares in the company, valued at approximately $216,969,191.10. The sale was disclosed in a document filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission, which is available at the SEC website. Also, EVP David J. Rosa sold 54,000 shares of the company’s stock in a transaction on Friday, April 20th. The stock was sold at an average price of $457.02, for a total value of $24,679,080.00. Following the sale, the executive vice president now owns 65,141 shares of the company’s stock, valued at $29,770,739.82. The disclosure for this sale can be found here. Insiders have sold a total of 170,767 shares of company stock valued at $77,995,219 over the last 90 days. 2.20% of the stock is currently owned by company"...

    It is still happening

    An underreported Robotic instrument malfunction.
It is difficult to recognize and it might add to the risk of Insulation Failure.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-o3PW20FD4

Here is another video showing the the Insulation failure. Notice they even have to remove it... This is where the electricity arcs from.

Well after the recall and redesign. do you need more ? do you need too see more of a smoking gun?

Subject: Re: Video documented insulation failure of Robotic monopolar hot shear instrument

Uterine Perforation of Colpotomizer is shown. It is an underestimated & underreported complication of Laparoscopic and Robotic Gynecologic Surgery. Question is : DOES THIS COMPLICATION AFFECT STAGING OF ENDOMETRIAL CANCER ? AND DOES IT AFFECT THE MANAGEMENT/PROGNOSIS. Insulation Failure is showed at the end of the Video clip.

This next video is well after the recall and well after the sleeve fix and it is still burning patents. Why ?

Subject: Video documented insulation failure of Robotic monopolar hot shear instrument

Video documented insulation failure of Robotic monopolar hot shear instrument, during Robotic assisted hysterectomy procedure. Insulation failure seen as sparks, firing against the posterior wall serosa of the uterine corpus. This is related to malfunction of the monopolar instrument (hot shear) sleeve. Carful handling of the instrument (and it's shortcomings) is a must , to avoid injury to surrounding structures in the operative field (such as bowel). Frequent change, as needed, of the hot shear monoplar instrument is need to avoid such failure.

Earnings: 2 Hot Growth Stocks to Watch Next Week
Netflix and Intuitive Surgical, two industry rule breakers, are must-watch stocks next week.

As earnings season begins to kick into gear, next week features stocks of all shapes and sizes. But two stocks I'll be watching are growth stocks Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG). Both companies are benefiting from double-digit growth in revenue and earnings per share. When these companies report their second-quarter results next week, investors will be watching to see if they can keep executing well on the growth opportunities before them.

Ahead of their results next week, here's a look at both companies as well as a preview of one key area to watch for each.

    #1 Intuitive Surgical
The maker of the minimally invasive surgical robot named da Vinci has seen accelerated momentum recently. First-quarter revenue and EPS rose 25% and 55%, respectively. Intuitive Surgical's stock price has risen rapidly, too. Shares are up 60% in the past 12 months, giving the stock a premium price-to-sales valuation of 18 -- far above the average of five for stocks in the medical instruments and supplies industry.

A key metric to watch when Intuitive Surgical reports second-quarter results will be its growth in da Vinci procedures. Growth in procedures using da Vinci systems offers a good indicator of customers' willingness to adopt and utilize Intuitive Surgical's products and services. The company has been on a roll with this metric, as procedures increased 15% year over year in the first quarter of 2018. In the company's fourth-quarter 2017 conference call, management had forecast procedure growth in 2018 to increase in a range of 11% to 15%. But with first-quarter procedure growth coming in at the high end of management's range, Intuitive Surgical now expects procedure growth of 12% to 15% during the year, management said during its first-quarter earnings call.

    #2 Netflix

The streaming TV company is undoubtedly the hotter stock of these two. Not only is this evident by its 176% gain in the past 12 months and its 43% rise in the past three, but also by the company's frothy price-to-sales ratio of 5.9 -- nearly double the average price-to-sales ratio of stocks in the media industry. Of course, Netflix has certainly earned its higher valuation. Highlighting the company's steep growth recently, Netflix's first-quarter revenue and EPS increased 13% and 56%, respectively.

Thank you for posting this! I absolutely adore the irony for two reasons 1) Netflix original documentary “the Bleeding Edge” is coming July 27th and 2) Netflix beats ISRG as “undoubtedly hotter stock.”

Dwas- if you posted this, thank you for making me smile.

ISI- if you posted this, you are dumber than I thought.

Is that the same Netflix that has a show about a 12-year-old boy who discovers he’s reincarnated as Jesus Christ. “He can turn water into wine, make the crippled walk, and, perhaps, even raise the dead,”

The same Netflix that took a sudden downward turn today, with shares dropping more than 10 percent in early morning trading, one day after the company posted disappointing Q2 subscriber growth.

Netflix is horrible and Davinci patient base wont even see this horrible show "the bleeding edge"
More liberal propaganda that will only HELP ISRG stock go UP UP UP !!!!

It’s fitting that this thread has devolved into a debate of NFLX vs. ISRG. It’s all just for amusement anyway. Always has been....

Sadly, but not shockingly, you missed the point.

I would like to thank those who were brave and strong enough to speak for us all on the horrors of the medical device industry in the Bleeding Edge. You did a fantastic job of advocating, enlightening, and educating. I am confident your efforts will do great things!

Greed, stupidity, and corruption have been far too prevalent in steering the direction of past decisions both in regulations as well as patent treatments. Looking forward to new legislation, accountability, and case law establishing precedence in favor of these actions!

This board was established in order for patients and other survivors to share and discuss their stories. ISI, you have no place here. Your posts are worthless and only make our stories stronger. Your words stating what this board is or isn’t - not your call and not your board. Why bother posting at all? Scared? You should be.

CSR here, these are scripted fabricated stories posted. ISI is expanding territories and hiring in mass numbers to keep up with the growing patient demand for robotic surgery. My 401k has increased by 65% in last two years thanks to our stock split and growing awareness of the benefits of DaVinci.

Interesting 401(k) that invests your money for you (and charges you to do it) to invest 100% in the company you work for???!!! Hahahaha!! Rookie. Go make me a nice cup of coffee and order some more pens for the support team’s office supply inventory....

Again, you are incorrect. You are not welcome. You’re boring and your posts are tedious, taxing, and pointless. Interested to read later what Intuitive Surgical can do to answer DWAS questions on the recalled cannulas showing up in operating rooms 4 years post recall, supplying us with the approved patent and 510(k) for AEM, and the remediation plans for the 3 recalled Da Vinci instruments this month.
