Too many managers at Arbor

Has it occurred to Arbor that they appear to have too many managers? There is so much turn over that the teams are rarely full. Assign more reps to each manager. Stop the 2 day ride alongs. It shouldn't take 2 days to see what is happening in the field. What value do the managers bring anyway? They are paid more, don't generate any more sales and slow the reps down. They sure spend a lot of time on teleconferences and then tell us that they can't share the information they got from the teleconferences. Then they want to sit at home on the phone with us on district teleconferences keeping us from going out in the field!

Arbor operates on fear and the managers are like snakes. They may be fine one day, and bite you the next.

So true, we have not had a full team due to turn over and my manager is probably with me every 3 weeks for to 2 days. My offices tell me they are tired of seeing my manager. Give us some space please.

My suggestion to Arbor upper management if they want to track people that are wasting company time/money is to start with the managers.
All the wasted travel days, meals, etc. and for what? Travel on a Monday to work with a rep on Tuesday-Wednesday then
another full travel day on Thursday and an office day on Friday? Sounds like a productive week. Lol.
And they are worried about us going home at 3 or 4 PM.

Trust me my manager does not want to ride as much as they do. The higher ups make them. Offices hate having to deal with managers in their offices. A lot of time they do more harm then good. Do we really need them with us once month for 2 days?

I had my manager be asked by offices not to come back. Definitely made for some awkward ride alongs from there.

I have had to apologize after the fact for my manager over stepping boundaries in 2 separate offices on a recent ride along.

They could get rid of 20% of the managers just based on the vacant territories alone.

They will continue to pay their babysitters to track reps and try to bust people that violate their ridiculous expectations.
These people can’t really coach or manage their reps to success so they shouldn’t even be called managers.
If I ever see “Arbor manager” on a resume at any point in my career it’s going in the trash immediately. I might even light it on fire to make sure it disappears.

I so agree with this. My doctor told me he sees my manager as much as he see me. He asked if I was in trouble because they were always with me. I he said it I wonder how many are thinking the same thing. Not a good look for your reps Arbor.

Yes, let's just call them Arbor babysitters. Do they order you around? Discipline you? Talk on the phone when they should be paying attention to you? Sounds like a typical babysitter to me.

if you talk to reps at other companies, 2 day ride alongs are standard. Not every 3 weeks.

I love this post! It is so true! Unfortunately, although there now fewer managers, there are also fewer reps. So nothing on this front has changed. The managers are the laziest bunch out there. They just want to sit on their butt & crack that whip.

Speaking of lazy, worthless and a joke of a manager then you must be talking about the DM that lurks around at Starbucks hours upon hours while the reps are making calls or even better gets to say at a fancy hotel (suite of course) when its just a short drive only to collect the rewards points for himself or eats only healthy foods so rapidly while you go over your plan of action so that you can't even get a bite in of your now cold entrée all just so he can spew out the endless crap he says which is all about how superior he is and how much you suck
