I have solid information from Syneos leadership that GSK will be cutting both Advair/Breo reps as well as embedded vacancy positions before the end of the year. Do yourselves a favor and start looking for new opportunities NOW!

Why are they managing people out?

    K
I have never seen a contract company give severance.

This is probably the 4th time someone with “solid” knowledge predicts the end of this contract. Just do your job and stop trying to upset people.

I don't think anyone knows for sure what's going to happen, or when. I think there is a 50/50 shot for it to go either way. I am definitely planning for the worst. i.e. Financially, letting my family know, etc. I plan to stick it out. But I am preparing. I feel that's all I can do. Then if the best happens, bonus! If you are someone who can't take a few months of no income due to not getting a severance, then now might be the time to start looking. Otherwise, I think it's worth sticking out to see what happens.

It’s official. Cuts to both GSK & Contract Reps in 3 weeks ... after Labor Day weekend.

    Good luck All

That doesn't even make sense. Advair hasn't even gone generic yet.

There is a training class the week of 8/20, so I imagine that any cuts will be determined by territory needs, not just a blanket cut for all contract reps

I believe they have to give a few weeks notice to us, so this would have to happen soon

This. The OP is a doom for all kind of vibe but its 100% false. Yes, there will be cuts, and we might lose the entire asthma advair team...and yes we might lose a few embedded but the contract is 100% not ending and there will be reps that will be retained on a district needs basis. Quit being dramatic.

When the GSK Tanzeum contract ended, we had nearly two months notice, and we stopped all call activity about three weeks before the end. They also kept us on until January 2nd so our health coverage would continue through the end of January.

I remember that. I think that was a special case because you guys didn't see Tanzeum ending at all. So you were treated extra well when it ended.
I don't think most contracts give that much heads up

You are literally saying that the entire Advair team will be cut, and the only embedded reps that will stay will be on a district needs basis.

    How is this NOT dramatic?

    You must be a FTM.

The OP makes it sound like the entire contract is ending meaning 100% of the sales force would be cut. That's what's being dramatic. I'm being realistic in my assessment of how it will go down. The entire asthma advair team know the writing is on the wall when LOE happens so that isn't shocking. Last year, cuts were made to the embedded team based on a territory/district needs basis. If they need you, they will keep you. Simple as that. Definitely not an FTM. Simply put, my synopsis of what we should expect is far less dramatic than 100% of the syneos team being cut because the "contract is ending". That's completely false.

Absolutely false, GSK would never cut during asthma season. This is obviously someone trying to panic
everyone. No decisions will be made until early 2019 regardless of LOE.

Wait a second. What do you mean panic? We are all on a contract. It was clearly stated by HR and in the paperwork we all signed. The contract can be ended at any time for any reason. I work here in a constant state of panic. Advair will go generic at some point. All signs say it will happen sooner rather than later. Do you really believe they will keep us on with a generic alternative available? Also, my GSK embedded counterparts are freaking out about their roles. They believe massive cuts are on the way. No one is safe.

I was around for the reorg last year and remember it very well. Our company did their best to keep the reps calm and in the field working. There were even conference calls held addressing the issue trying to assure us that their main priority was to find everyone a position. My FTM even told me that they thought that my state would only lose about 10% of the contract sales force.

When announcements were made, over 80% of my teammates in the region were let go. I got lucky and made the cut. I don’t plan on sitting back and hoping to be lucky again so I’ve already started applying to other positions. Be smart people.

    Best of luck to all!

I was around for it as well. Cuts were not as deep in my area. Actually my district was unscathed. I knew of a few reps that were lost in the shuffle. Just gotta look at how many others are around you in your district to know if you have a chance or not. Again, asthma advair team is likely gone whenever any cuts come. Embedded team will experience cuts where there are too many reps. Overlays in some areas might be more at risk. I'm just speculating right now though. I hope everyone stays employed. GLTA.
