I laughed so hard when I read how these reps "majorly f'ed their college life with a useless degree..." When this poser spent time in med school, the OR and is a bioengineer and now wants to be a sales rep. Guess who majorly f'ed up their college life with a useless degree? I'm sure your very smart. So, pls show some awareness and admit you just don't have what it takes and get back in the lab nerd.

You are a douchenozzle, you are making a fool out of yourself so please shut up. I have a 20 rep spine distributorship and this engineer is spot on. Please stop making yourself look stupid. You are not important and probably some punk selling trauma making 150k/yr and thinks they are a stud

You must be a lot of fun to work for.

What do you look for in an interview? A fucking heart beat? I bet your 20 reps would love to know how unimportant they are.

    Dick!!!

Oh good, captain douche nozzle is back. I love when you pop up in various threads and watching you get put in your place. The engineer is not spot on because he is in his early 20's, has never sold anything, and thinks that being successful in selling is all about product knowledge. And you're knocking "some punk selling trauma" when you're in the spine business. Comical. You should leave the forum- just like your customers would say about you, you're bringing absolutely no value here.

found this gem thread, read a few posts, thought I'd give my unsolicited opinion. the long and short of it is that this med school engineer kid is just pissed he wasn't hired and decided to come air his grievances on an anonymous forum. I went to a state school, showed up to 50% of my classes, and have a fantastic gig in med device. you know why? I sweet talked my way up various corporate sales ladders over the past decade and landed an excellent gig. do I know even a fraction of the engineering that went into the devices I sell? nope, and I don't care. Docs will keep pushing for my product because I am a good sales rep. People buy things from people they like. I am likeable. I show up, I give good service, and I take the time to get to know everyone in my hospitals;s from the lowly CPD techs to the VPs of supply chain. That's how you have success in this industry. It isn't what it used to be, but there is still plenty of money to be made. if there is one thing I have learned over the years of interviewing candidates for full line roles and associate roles, you can tell pretty quickly if someone has "it" or doesn't. They guy bitching who started this 3 page epic just doesn't have it. Go back to your patents my man, that's where you will make your living.

Buddy, this is a several month old post.
    Are you that badly unemployed?

If you get lucky to get selected youve got a short lived career with meh payment. I signed over to a software company for $191k starting compensation.

    Good luck feeding your kids

Says the guy clearly trolling his own post for replies. Ironic. I'm going to go ahead and remove the obligatory inflated comp number and peg you down to where you really signed, a $91k job making apps for iphones. Good on you kid! Good luck making friends with your award winning attitude.

Speaking as a device rep with a "useless" Communication (there's never an S at the end) degree, I can say that the lifestyle is pretty good -- but yes, the managers are mostly r*****s.

My degree taught me a lot about persuasion and listening, which you need to be a rep. So while it was useless in getting me the job, it has been invaluable in keeping me here for 20 years.

Re. athletes, we know how to get up at 4:30, work hard, have a "continuous improvement" mindset, and we understand that a loss is just something that happens from time to time so we brush it off and prepare harder next time. Marines and SEALs make incredible reps -- they just don't always advance upward because they aren't good at talking about themselves (unlike your musician limo driver).

Regarding "need" vs. "want", that's a great observation -- and these terms are quite pliable in the hands of a good rep. The job today is truly a matter of converting wants into needs, because hospitals won't buy a damn thing that surgeons "want".

Your Reddit buddy is really taking about "internals" not "intangibles". Your heart has to be in it -- nobody looking for cash ever makes it for long. You need to give a shit about total strangers and humanity in general. It sounds like your main problem is that down inside, you are an entitled asshole. Maybe that's why you didn't finish med school.

Blah blah blah blah. You sound like the classic athlete moron who has gotten no where in your life. 20 years and you clearly are stuck where you started

The average athlete goes to college majors in something dumb as fuck, and ends up working for target because his major is as useless as yours.

Sounds like you dont know how to work smart and thats why someone a fraction of your age is making more than you. Good luck failing at life consistently.

The starting salary for an app developer is above 100 k you r*****. Are you that lazy you cant google fact check what you spit out?
No wonder youre such an unsuccessful loser, you make a fool of yourself where ever you go.

Move to a place like silicon valley or seattle and the compensation starts in the 170 k range. Keep crying and stay in denial while you twiddle your thumbs in your basement wondering how youre going to stay employed in a dead end career with no skills

Nice, I struck a nerve! Love this response, clearly I had you exactly in the crosshairs. I didn't need to "fact check" app developer salary, I just took your clearly overinflated made up comp and put it where it belongs. You definitely don't even crack 6 figures yet there chump. And if you were even a fraction as smart as you like to pretend you are, you would realize that 170k in Silicon Valley is essentially poverty. Here, take your own advice dipshit and google fact check. Here, I did it for you, "cost of living silicon valley" and this is the first hit:

    https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/29/the-10-cities-where-tech-salaries-go-the-furthest.html

Again, you are projecting onto everyone else what in reality you are experiencing: being an unsuccessful loser, making a fool of himself while living in a shit studio garden level apartment twiddling his thumbs wondering why his career aspirations flatlined and why his friends abandoned him. Try not to get so triggered next time you troll CP boards. Any response to this post by you will immediately be considered butthurt rage, so try to keep your Cheeto covered fingers off your keyboard for a hot second, you neck bearded basement dwelling poser fuckwad. Have a great day!
