Rare Disease requires skill...not saying you personally don’t have it but this isn’t a mail it in / sample drop / for your next ten patients / here’s some literature job!
You have to have in depth clinical conversations on something a large majority of Drs have either never seen or never diagnosed....then you have work like hell to get the patient in drug and motivate the 300 lbs MA in the office to submit the paperwork needed to move forward....should I go on?

QUOTE="anonymous, post: 6094716"]Regarding the Rare Disease, I wonder the same thing. I cannot figure out the mystery of why you have to have sold in rare disease in order to qualify for rare disease positions. How hard can it be? Fewer patients and probably having to "educate and remind" the physicians on the disease state. How difficult could that be? Maybe some get discouraged with little return and they need to know that someone can stay motivated under those circumstances?[/QUOTE]

Thank you for your less-than snarky response. Refreshing.

I've had 2 orphan designated rare disease molecules in the past several years and patient identification, clinical acumen, and access - all points we agree on - are the emphasized skills. And access is certainly becoming the most influential of those 3. In my opinion...

    Thnx again

I love reading anonymous posts that slam the appearance or idiosyncrasies of people to make a point. We get to watch in real time the poster self destructing and pushing it onto anyone else but themselves. They try to entice people to agree with them and then we get to see others bite too (classic follower behavior). I am sure these people won't leave anytime soon because they can't and they will continue to post (which will be fun to read when we need a chuckle). Oh, and when they do leave...I give them 3 months max before they start doing the same thing at their new company...predictable much?

I’m sorry- I got to, “I love reading anonymous quotes that slam...” and after a small chuckle of irony, I got confused.

Exactly who are you condescending to??

All you sales people are just big spoilt brats. Here is why:
    - can’t make sales...blame the company and the product and the leadership
    - didn’t get hired...then why are you trolling here? Go find a job...if you can.
    - you have a lot of experience and want to be paid more than God....I don’t think so. You are not worth the drivel coming out of your mouth.
    - you know and have the answers to everything...then why are you trolling here and wasting your time? Wait...it’s probably because you don’t have a life and/or can’t get hired by anyone else.

You ALL chose to work here because you left something you didn’t like or weren’t getting paid enough (in your mind) to do that job. So put up and get sales or shut up and quit.

    This comment:

BN a former fat kid that made good. He is a legend in his own mind. He can get away with that stuff at BMS where he can blend. He needs to get it right and he has no idea how. He hasn’t gotten anything right so far. The IC plan sucks. Turn over will be the result.

    Troll much?

Yikes - our sales people are the BEST (apart from a the one or two who may be posting here in a negative way and need to move on)! Please don't paint in broad strokes by say "All you Sales People"!

You are a moron to think that management actually would respond to your drivel. There are other employees (manjority) who actually do like working at Dova and work hard everyday to make a difference. What do you do? Continue with your pathetic complaints because you are incompetent in your job...continue living in your little fantasy in your little head.

You are correct. I acknowledge my error in generalizing. There are a lot of sales folks working hard only to be tainted by the insignificant few who feel entitled.

Keep wondering, and trivializing it. The fact is, you don’t know what you don’t know.

I’m not saying you can’t make the transition, but if you walk in to interview saying “it’s no big deal, I can do it” without knowing what “it” is, you’ve already lost the job. Talk to someone, anyone, that’s been doing it for a while. Ask how they got in, how it’s different and how you can make the transition. The rare disease people are a tight network. They hear about rare disease jobs first, some aren’t even ever advertised. Network!

    Couldn’t agree more!!

Rare Disease requires grind and hustle like you would never believe!!
It also requires actual clinical conversations and pull through!

It’s amazing how average to below average and generic 75% of our profession is In the field day to day...it’s no wonder some are still pushing pills with big Pharma after 10+ years...look around the next conference you display at! It’s either the aging female who talks like she’s a sophomore in college or the early 30’s douche bag dude that knows everything standing with his hands on his hips trying to look important....
