I’m a new hire and have heard rumors of there being the choice of having a car allowance or fleet vehicle. Any idea of when this will happen since some of us are looking a vehicles. Thanks

Not bad fleet car choices announced. Loaded Nissan Altima, Base Nissan Maxima, Base Jeep Grand Cherokee for reps. Loaded Nissan Maxima, Loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4runner for DM's. Did it also say that if we decide to keep the car allowance the allowance will remain the same as it is now?

When will these choices be released to the field sales teams? Is car allowance staying the same too?

Unless you have some type of inside information I have to call bullshit on your post above. Latest email that was sent to the field sez that car choices will be made available to us soon. It also said the they will continue to offer car allowance so it is the best of both worlds. Potential new hires will no longer have to balk at not having a fleet vehicle but they will soon realize that the car allowance is is a pretty good deal that will let them choose their own car and have the company help pay for them to own it. Coming here from big pharma a few years ago I was upset that there was no fleet vehicle, but now I would never go back to a fleet car and love buying my own car and financing for 2 to 3 years and owning it after that time all while the car allowance pretty much covered the payments and most of my business us for the car.

The company car that you bought will have so many miles on it after two or three years and it will be completely run into the ground that you’re probably be upside down on it and wouldn’t even be able to sell it for what you still owe on it.
That doesn’t even to factor in all the repairs you had to put in oil changes new tires etc. car insurance probably at least 1200 year , tires ect
Financially a company car option is always the better way to go , not one penny out of your pocket and in three years you get a brand new car again with not one penny coming out of your pocket again .

That is true, if you don't mind driving a Ford Taurus with cloth upholstery and no bells and whistle's. I prefer to drive the car that I want and not look like a drug rep every time I pull up into an office.

From your post above, I'm thinking you should probably go with the fleet vehicle. Me, I'm sticking with the car allowance and driving a car I love every day :). Yup, probably losing some money by doing that but it's a personal choice. Feel so fortunate to work for a company that allows me to make the choice. Thank you Alkermes!!

    • Just remember nothing is FREE. Wheels will have an app that is downloaded on your phone just like Airwatch on your ipad & co phone. It will work even if your location is turned off it will continue to ping every 15 minutes. The wheels app will track when you excel, when you stop, it will keep track of hours driven after dark, track speed and brake. Then is then generated in a report. So you think you will save money just remember there's a price for everything.

Yes I do think I will save because none of that will cost me money

I guess he means the price is freedom
since they can track your every movement in the company car,
But remember with the expansion we will have at least 200+ reps now, so what
are they going to do have someone in
    home office watching 200+ trackers
on every field rep and in different time zones watching how many times a day reps cars stop at Dr’s offices ?
