    Health Care Leadership
Leadership in health care can be so great for an organization with the right leader because the leader is the head of the organization and they are supposed to make sure their organization is following vision and mission statements that have innovated. There are so many leadership styles and many different personalities of leaders that we may not know about until we get into the position of being a leader and we can start to think about the box instead of what is outside of the box. This article will describe leadership and personal experiences that informed the thought about health care leadership, some of traits of an authentic leader, developing skills of an authentic leader, and the benefits of becoming an authentic health care leader.

    Leadership

Leadership is inspiring a vision that can motivate people to achieve anything that they believe in. They do whatever it takes to make sure their organization and everyone in their organization’s needs are taken care of. Leaders go above and beyond their role showing compassion and empathy for their staff, colleagues, and community, not just thinking of themselves, but everyone around them. Leaders lead people and influence people to either do right or wrong depending of what influence they are putting out. The perfect leader knows how to handle any situation, looks to others for advice and guidance taking their opinions into consideration, and makes the best decisions possible for their organization.

Working in the health care field there are a lot of things that you see and may not eight understand or agree with. Some leaders are not so good, and they cause organizations to lose consumers and staff because of their actions or how they care for their organization. Something that has informed the thought about health care leadership was the lack of care and communication within an organization. When these issues arise, it seems as if the leader just gave up and allows things to fall apart, with not a care for the people who are following them or the patients that are receiving care at their organization. This is why healthcare leadership is a passion of mine because knowing that with the proper training and passion that is there I can be the best leader there is because I want to help people and lead them the right way; while showing nothing but compassion and empathy yet being stern as to how I want my organization to be perceived.

    Authentic Leader

Authentic leadership is genuine leadership, and some traits of an authentic leader should be knowing who they are and what they stand for; an authentic leader cannot lead anyone if they do not know who they are first. Another trait is transparently interacting with other; being open an honest and not having any hidden agendas so people know where they stand (Partridge, 2018). Following your gut is a trait that allows an authentic leader to listen to their gut, but also listens and absorbs the feedback of others. Lastly, knowing your life’s work is bigger than you is another trait that is important to an authentic leader because they are driven by something bigger where they want better for their employees or they want to create something beneficial in the community (Partridge, 2018). Not all authentic leaders have these traits they may have other traits, but good traits of an authentic leader start with these few listed in this article.

An effective exercise in developing the skills of an authentic leader are to stop putting yourself first; if a leader’s actions inspire someone to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more they are doing something right. Instead of focusing on your own authority start from a place of service by putting your own advancements and ego to the side and focus more on the team and business, this will have a great impact of leadership skills and the organization.

This exercise would be very beneficial towards becoming an authentic leader because the focus is not on self, but coming from the outside looking in. All leaders need to start from a place of service so that they can understand what their employees have to go through, this builds substance because leaders can make better decisions based on their own experience while being in a place of service making their way of thinking a lot better for the organization.
