It turns out that other divisions were complaining about the generous traveling budget for IT. Haha, I laughed my butt off. Wonder who is traveling? Because it aint me. Can't even go to top events in our fields. Career development is not the best place to cut from while some people constantly travel for useless meetings that they could do on webex
Good for you. It certainly has a lot to do with the boss. We are reporting to a chain of incompetent assholes who only see cutting costs as the best way to keep their stupid jobs
Everybody I know spends about 2-4 weeks per year abroad plus 1-2 domestic conferences... you need new jobs...
