This is so true. The older you are the more true it is. If you try to “do the right thing” and discuss your willingness to be included in a layoff in lieu of a younger employee who wants to stay they actually do the exact opposite. It’s even worse if you try to be ethical and keep working hard. I know someone who was told by their manager that their numbers were “too good” to be included in a layoff. So the person stopped working and started tanking quarters. Another hard to believe but true story about how incredibly inept some managers and sales directors are in the company.
