Does anyone out there know about Zoll Medical? I'm interested in pursuing a career with them, but not sure about the company.

If you aren't familiar with the company, why do you want to work for them? Just curious. After you answer, I'll tell you what I think.

Zoll contacted me to interview for an AED position with them. The position pays 50K, I make 2x that amount now. They said at plan, the pay is 150K.

    How realistic is that?

I'd love to make another 50 grand, but i don't want to give up a 100K job for no reason.

How hard are these AED's to move?

AEDs are commidity, and owned by MDT and Phillips - with more competition moving into the playing field - every person I know in that area is dying to get into CRM at the big 3, wouldn't waste your time, you're not selling to hospitals and docs but to government, corporations, stores, schools and shit, compensation BLOWS unless you land a Home Depot or someone like that and I assure you those accounts are already being called on...

Worked for them for 3 years. Was ranked in the top 5 each year. Made $110,000 in best year. The company has very high turnover. Average tenure for a sales rep is less that 3 years. Many reps leave in the first year and a half because they can't make any commission.. First year you won't make 100K. Very poor management. Company can't decide if they want to sell direct or through distribution and change direction every year. One year they hire and sell direct. Next year they bring on every distributor they can find. The next year the go to Manufact. Reps. and the cycle just keeps revolving. Company changes comp. plan and territory all time which make it hard to get traction. The product is great and superior to Philips, Medtronics and Cardiac Science. The only AED that supports CPR. Never lost a deal when I was able to do a product demo. Only lost during bids when customer already knew what the wanted. If you are already making $100K I would stay where you are at. If you want to worry about your job, income and feel unsupported in the field then this is the place for you.

PS: Cardiac Science has even more turn-over and a poor product. Medtroincs/Physio Controls division is laying people off and their products are undergoing a recall. Philips is the only AED vendor I would consider if you want to get in the business.

I have a phone screen interview with Zoll in a few days. I have read mainly negative comments about Zoll which are mostly 2-3 years old. Recruiter says $150K at plan and does not know why the position is avaialable. If its due to promotion than I will ask if I can speak with the rep who was promoted but if it is due to turnover what should one do? My job now is pitiful but has a higher base at least. Company benefits ok, car allowance, how is commish paid? I dont want to go from bad to worse obviously so any current comments or news on Zoll would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Below is the job description:

My client develops and markets medical devices and software solutions in the United States and internationally. The company provides a set of technologies, including products for defibrillation and monitoring, circulation and CPR feedback, data management, fluid resuscitation, and therapeutic temperature management, which help clinicians, EMS and fire professionals, and lay rescuers in the treatment of victims needing resuscitation and critical care. They are looking for a hospital territory manager to sell their hardware and disposable products, including defibrillators, life vests and non-invasive products, to hospital administrators, materials management, nurses and the C-suite. Responsibilities include: achieving sales quotas; managing and developing a customer base; and providing the required in-service education to customers.

College degree and minimum 5 years documented successful medical device capital equipment sales experience within the hospital environment, with experience calling on Emergency Care, Critical Care and Nursing. Candidates must have strategic and customer oriented selling skills, be professional and ethical, have organizational / territory time management skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and basic computer skills. A clinical or engineering background is a plus. Travel 30-40%

Don’t go to Zoll . Expectations are unrealistic. Stay away. You will not make 150k . Recruiters need to stop saying that like it’s automatic.
