I went to one in Newton, MA for my pre-employment drug screen. It was nasty. They had a bathroom they used for patients to give samples but not for normal use so the toilet and sink was all taped up with caution tape. Everything was messy and dirty. The facility looks like they hastily converted a public restroom. If you dont want people using the sink, take it out. Dont put tape on it and tell people not to use and that "Ill be listening for the water".

The phlebs were nice. Im sure they are just working with whatever LCA management gives them for a facility which in this case was very unprofessional. This is the first impression you are making on your own employees FFS.

Are you that new to have never been in a restroom for drug screening to see the sink taped off? This is standard practice in all laboratories that collect forensic drug screens. You can't remove a sink that the landlord says has to stay. Cutting the water off underneath the sink is pointless because some idiot will eventually come along and think they're above the rules and turn it back on, so you turn off the water AND tape up the sink, tape up the lid to the toilet tank and yes, you use caution or tamper tape so you can see if anything has been tampered with in case you suspect adulteration of the specimen. Don't talk down about a procedure you obviously know nothing about.

As far as the state of the PSC, I've been in several lately that are HORRIBLE. They've got the PST's doing so many things they don't have time for housekeeping. It's ridiculous how many hats a phlebotomist has to wear these days. That's why they can't retain experienced phlebotomists or at least halfway educated ones that know how to string together an intelligible sentence or with enough work ethics to do a decent job.

Quit your bitching and go to work! Some phlebotomy are making $25 an hour and that’s good money for a high school grad! Phlebs are a dime a dozen and so many have huge attitudes. They are a big pain in the ass!

News flash. Our PSCs are small. Our customers and our employees shit in the facilities. Some of our elderly patients wear diapers and shit themselves in public. Patients piss on the floors. I had a patient piss himself in the waiting room and I had to put the chair outside cause it smelled so bad and we weren’t allowed to throw it out. Then everyone bitched when they walked past it. F them. We have to keep the lines moving or there’s going to be riots in the reception areas. F you too. I hate this F-ing place.
