Worst biological company ever

worst company ever is quite the stretch. But what is the truth is this place is the most dysfunctional leadership wise, and they spend more money on useless out of the field expenditures that I’ve ever seen. Everyone is glutinous feeding their stomachs, and traveling to useless meetings. The corporate waste is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my life. If Alisha put a policy out that there would be no more approvals of “business meals” and a travel ban for 6 months on “business meetings” it would send a true new message that the party of easy street is over and it’s time to go sell something.

But I have little to no faith that will ever occur. So here’s to more $135.00 steaks and shrimp appetizers.

As an experienced Territory Manager, I’ve found at Biogen where there is smoke, there is fire. These rumors seem to almost always come to fruition. Cuts are coming, almost surely. If you have a large base salar and are in sales, begin to look now before It is too late. Previous layoffs have been less than generous. I am looking now.

Companies are expanding their sales forces today for tomorrow. You won’t need to dig too far to find these opportunities.

Biogen is an epic mess. The above poster couldn’t be more correct. The amount of lunch and dinners is astounding. Furthermore, I have never been to so many meetings in my career. Biogen takes the cake for sure!

I’m hoping to be out soon. What I was sold on in coming here NEVER came to fruition. This company is terribly run and demotivating each and every day.

My HH told me that of all the Biotech companies out there Biogen is #1 worst reputation the past 2 years. People are diving out the windows!

I worked for Biogen, and now work for another biotech. Neither is perfect, but my current employer is far better than what I experienced at Biogen. I felt Biogen had good products, but poor management and “open” communication. I felt many of the gals and guys in management were only trying to protect their jobs, not innovate. I was fortunate enough to take advantage of a 9 month severance check, and start at my new biotech job (which is better) 7 weeks later....so if there are layoffs there, take the check and get a better gig!

No one has heard you. I just finished my $800 meal in Arizona. It’s a tough life out here. Someone needs to do it.

Sales? We sell nothing. Hasn’t Dell or Alisha caught on yet? Idiots everywhere. Where’s the next free vacation?

Look at this objectively. First, the company has an unimpressive and unqualified CEO. I would think perhaps he would be a good country manager and maybe a regional president, but a CEO? Absurd. You can't understate it. His hiring leads to the obvious conclusion that the Board of Directors is either stocked with idiots or disengaged. Second, most hires and promotions in the C-Suite and senior leadership in past two years have been less impressive than the people they replaced. If you don't have good leaders, the rest is meaningless. This company may not be the worst ever as the original post states, but it is engaged in a monumental decline and hemorrhage of good talent. I would say it currently may be the worst of the big biopharma companies but there is competition from AbbVie, AZ and others...

at the end of the day the leadership is very weak. The US commercial sales org is even weaker, and all the good sales people are now in ridiculous roles that mean 0 to the bottom line.

MSCC is an epic failure, yet they refuse to pull the plug and cut their losses. Bio gen is treading water until the big readout where it will feast or famine.

MS sales will continue to decline, and in an odd way the company is fine with that. The eggs are in all one very risky basket. There’s also a reason why 90% of the good people are already gone. The 10% that stay are just lazy and comfortable (and I dont blame you one bit for sticking it out)

The above poster couldn’t be more dead on when they state the dollars wasted on trips and meals is unlike anything I’ve seeb either. But this is deeply imbedded into the culture here. Eat, eat and eat some more. Meet, meet and meet some more. Airplane cost? Flight cost? BOOK IT! It’s the BIIB way!

I can't believe the downgrades in people across the board. Luster has worn off - your company sucks. You are the new AZ - no one left is impressive, starting with the CEO. Name one senior executive who is as impressive as the person they replaced.

And this goes all the way down the ladder. The Biogen Salesforce 5 years ago was way more impressive than what is there today. Most of the really good ones are gone.

I've experienced this at a few companies I've worked for during my career, and I've also experienced the opposite - where there were very few meetings, everything was done on the cheap, meal limits and marketing budgets were below industry standard, and every expense was highly scrutinized. There are plenty of pharma companies out there that operate as I have described. I'll take the extra meetings and upscale meals any day!

Just another post from some loser who either got fired for being a slug or didn’t advance in the interview process.

You are the laughingstocks of Cambridge. Every person hired is weaker than the person they replaced. Your company is continuing to lose top talent. Just met another biogen person last week and was so underwhelmed. Your company sucks.
