There are many posts going around about having GSK on your resume will get your black listed with other pharma companies. The reputation of GSK field sales reps are if they are still with GSK, or have been with GSK for more than 2 years, they are dead weight.

This is true my friends. I have friends that were downsized with the last massive cuts. All of them are having a hard time getting interviews, and even a harder time getting looked at for a new job. They are all being told the same thing, it is industry knowledge that other pharma companies do not want GSK sales reps. I myself heard it from multiple different recruiters about my tenure with GSK. The thought is that any true sales person would not stay with a company that does not pay out on sales but tests, manager's thoughts on the person, metrics, etc. These types of bonus structures breeds lazy, sample droppers, 10 - 2, ass kissing people. Look around, who are left? All the good people left when PF initially started. I like many others stayed thinking that GSK would do right by us, and it has only gotten worse. The let the few good ones go recently, either through the silent lay offs that they are denying ever happened or the big one last month, and kept the biggest ass kissers, laziest, people. The few good ones that they did keep, are all looking to get out.

I recently left the industry completely. I have never been happier. I am getting paid more, being treated with respect, and actually getting rewarded for my hard work. I no longer have to deal with a clueless RSD or VP. I no longer have to watch the few good sales reps that are still there being treated like crap. I no longer have to worry about call metrics, subjective ratings, and blowing out my territory quotas, but not getting bonuses.

Get out now! Network like crazy. Go to contract if you have too. This company used to be one of the greats, and now it will only hurt your future. Look around and see who is left. There will continue to be more silent layoffs, and more larger ones. This package was decent considering how many people were let go, but that is the only reason these lucky people got a decent package. This is not happen again. Ask people who were let go through the silent layoffs. GSK was not able to get rid of enough people, and that is the only reason this last group of people are on WARN.

Consider this your PSA. If you are reading this and relate, you are one of the few good ones left, get out while you can. If you are reading this and disagree, you are exactly where you belong and the reason why GSK sales reps have the reputation that they do.

Let me address a few of your points:

    - The reputation thing is ridiculous, if other Pharma companies are pretending they do something different or GSK reps don’t sell they are 100% delusional. Last I checked we all sell prescription meds. This couldn’t be more of a myth.

    - The interview issues could be a variety of reasons. Pharma reps have went down in numbers everywhere, this isn’t 10 years ago or even 5.

    - GSK is on weird and shaky grounds due to rumors of selling the unit off, generic advair, silent layoffs, and several past layoffs. None of this makes for comfort.

    - Getting out when you find a great role is a smart thing to do. If you find a safer bet of a company, go for it.

    - GSK management and processes have become terrible and the main reason for many of the issues here. It’s become one of the worst and for no reason.

    - I’ll end on a positive note, GSK has many great perks for working here. That’s why many stay, but the environment of which we work has become so toxic that we can’t help but to love and hate it. If anyone reading this can change this, please do so as it’s become more unbearable by the day.

Was everyone who received a WARN letter this year let go, or are people still waiting for the axe to fall?

Gsk on the resume is a kiss of death and laugh factor unless of course you can actually sell - but no one left at gsk sells. Sample droppers and Veela admins

I was recently hired in a sales space I had never been in. I beat out 2 GSK reps who had years of experience in the space. My new hiring manager said she had no faith in GSK reps, as they are “not competitive because they don’t even get sales data”. I actually feel sorry for GSK reps in any division, they have no chance.

This is the typiçal thread filled up by former employees that were canned by the company and have had to settle for crappy jobs. They are fillled up with sour grapes and then come here to vent. If they were happy ending up somewhere else, they would never look back and would not spend one minute posting on this board.

Yes, we work at a great company here. When are the next layoffs? Sure seem to be way more here than our peers. Good thing we are above “sales numbers” like EVERYONE else uses in the industry. Easy to go on an interview and educate the hiring company that GSK is right, everyone else is wrong! There is a reason we stay here, nobody will hire us...we have nothing to show them...COCO!

Wrong, you are a company shill. GSK is awful and pathetic. Settle for a crappy job, no after the DOJ gave me my share of the $3 billion I’m doing fine without a job. Thanks! I do still come back here however, because I love to see how bad things really are after I left. A bad company run by bad people. GSK.

Translation: “ I was canned by GSK and now the only job I can get is working behind the counter at a fast food joint.”

translation, "I'm jealous you have a plane, a car collection, several homes (all paid in full) a yacht and don't have to work ever again!" I'm GSK the greatest sales organization ever!

Im no GSK fan, but I wouldn’t be going around bragging about being a worthless narc who got in bed with the devil. Winning lawsuit money makes you a loser, and part of the huge drag on society. Thanks to people like you, we all pay more for things. What’s next, you going to “slip” in Walmart or get “whiplash” in a car “accident?” I would hate to look in the mirror everyday knowing how many people I screwed.
