I was recently offered a job in sales and was told to expect a call from a company called Hireright...HR said this company conducts the background checks and drug tests for Cardinal. Has anyone heard of them? I mentioned this to my buddy in passing and he said this company is a nightmare to deal with. Apparently, they require credit checks, employment verification, W2's, college verification, gpa verification, the whole 9 yards. Has anyone been hired recently that can tell me what I should expect and if I should be gathering documentation now. Thank you.

Maybe they don't feel comfortable about your honestly and you need to be vetted closely.

I'm not worried about my background etc. smart ass - I wanted to give my past employers a heads up and gather proper documentation however, if it's not needed I won't waste my time. Thanks for wasting yours though.

Yes, for me they were thorough, too. No GPA questions, however. Many companies now do credit checks--and so does Cardinal via Hire right. They will also scrutinize your driving record, do a drug test, verify you went to college, and verify employment history. It was a long process for me. Good Luck.

Thank you for your response - Now I have to gather W2's which is what I wanted to know. If anyone else has anything to add it would be appreciated, thanks again.

I went through last year. Very easy as long as you are OK. Many states do not allow credit check for employment. Most employers just verify employment because of legality. It did take about 3 weeks with many calls from Hireright.

Expext a hair sample drug test. They will require (3) cuts of hair from different parts of your head. I was not required to provide W-2's, but that was 7 months ago.
    Good luck.

They will require samples from your for forearm or legs. Please believe me. I was shocked. I felt totattly violated! The hair sample goes back 90-120 days.

You felt violated? Really? Since when is it a violation to drug test you? Urine samples are easy to beat for anyone who knows how to beat a drug test. If the company wants to make sure their investment (YOU) is not using illegal drugs, they can. And if they needed to clip your pubic hair they will. The only reason they would not be able to cut hair is for religious reasons and you have to prove it.

Regarding the hair testing for new hires:

Do you have knowledge as to whether this is company wide and in every district? Specifically in nuclear. Will they inform you ahead of the pre-hire screening whether it is a hair or urine test? Thank you.

We all got letters a while back, informing us of the hair testing company-wide, to go into effect Oct 1

Company wide administered or anyone working with HireRight? I don't see them collecting hair for a salesman, I could see it for nuclear or investigator type jobs.
