Any info would be greatly appreciated. Are they a serious competitor in cardiac monitoring/holter market?

Applied Cardiac Systems is a really bad company to work for. Management has no clue what they are doing. ACS is family owned and operated. The entire family works there and are some of the most disgusting people I have ever come ascross. They are in the process of going out of business. They only have two reps, all the others have been let go as of 8/1/09. There Holter system is obsolete and costs 5X what the competition does. Holter does not interface with EMR systems which is a must in any Dr's office. They act like they are the dominant company in the market but the reality is very few practices use their products and the ones that do absolutely hate the system. It is funny to watch everyone at the company act like they are the greatest company that ever existed when in reality they would not know a great company if it slaped them in the face. They expect one call closes for the holter system and the Dr's laugh when they are expected to write a check for a product they can get for 2K (acs is 10K and above). ECP is a joke in the Cardiology field and any respectable Cardiologist would never dream of using this crap. Bottomline- this is simply a terrible place to work. Run as fast as you can from this place. Holter is a dying device and reimbursement is only around $110 per test (has been cut drastically which makes the sell almost impossible). All doctors are now using a service that provides the equipment at no cost and the reimbursement is split. Dr does not have to do anything (saves time and money). Also, in most major areas the Cardiology practices are being bought by the hospitals and they get all of their equipment from purchasing in the hospitals which does not allow ACS to sell anything to them. ACS in not a member of any GPO's so you will NEVER be able to sell. I hope this helps anyone considering a job at ACS.

I am not a direct sales rep but currently represent ECP and Holter for ACS and I can say there have been many positive changes over the last few years and ACS has maintained their leadership position. ACS has a large customer base and stable instruments that reimburse well. They have expanded the product line and have a monitoring service. The worldwide Holter Market is stable and moving to $162M according to Global Industry Analysts and External Counterpulsation is still a wonderful and safe non-invasive therapy for stable CAD patients. ECP utility has surged as other diagnostic tests like imaging, utility and reimbursements, have come under attack. A Dr. showed me the previous post and asked me what was the straight scoop and why this website would maintain a non-productive, puss-filled position for all these years. I believe this forum allows what ACS wouldn't tolerate.

as far as i know, though am not an employee of ACS but a distributor of them, i find nothing adverse in their policy or line of operations. their products are highly reliable and i find hardly any break downs. the technology is good as well. i believe the person who notified this site that ACS is a crab would be the one whom they might have thrown out of systems due to any reasons. well, i can conclude by saying acs will assure worth of every penny invested on its products.

They may have good equipment and software but be warned: Only contact them if you are really committed to doing business with them. They will not stop calling. Do not call for a price list on supplies unless you mind taking 15 calls in 10 days doing follow up to see what you might be interested in and how quick they can send it and on and on and on and on and on. Been in healthcare for 20+ years and have never seen anything like this, EVER.

It seems that ACS is still business and doing well.

ECP has gained much traction in the cardiac world as a serious path for certain types cardiac patients to explore. Used widely in USA and Europe.

I had worked for ACS for a far amount of time and left the company because of a better job and better opportunity with one of its better competitors. The time I was there every one was friendly and got along really well until they came out with their new Mobile cardiac telemetry product and put people in place who have no idea in managing people nor put the best interests of the technicians or department first, but rather making sure life is extremely well for the lab supervisor who hired her husband who is a bartender that has no medical experience or national license watch cardiac patients , a lab manager who puts his own unwanted sexual facilities on his own new hires, and existing employees. A management team that hires bartenders and personal that have not CCI certification and to top it off everyone is paid differently and all empolyees are 1099-contract workers meaning you pay more in taxes at the end of the year . Sneaky trick because if you hurt yourself or if something happens to you, you have no workers comp, no disability insurance no medical insurance and, no vacation/PTO, no raises to be expected for hard work, and if you loose your job due to layoffs or termination you are entitled to no unemployment benefits. Lots of jealousy and backstabbing are in this company because no one wants to get fired and everyone wants to make sure they are getting their slice of the pie at someones expense. Please head my warning . To say the least this company is very obsolete they have a system that is 25 years old and it gives no real data because half the time their signal is down and you get no real quality of data . The device is the size of brick and they have constant battery issues and the program has so many bugs and flaws that devices such as the zio patch or my-patch will eventually make ACS become out of business and a bad memory. Because while the true competitors in telemetry are irhythm , CMS-CARDIAC MONITORING SERVICES,VersaCardio, medicomp, biotelemtry,Gmedical,Medtronic, Cardioscan have up technology and have an army of scientists and IT personal ACS only maintains very few engineers to accommodate patient care and the technical issues are never told to the customer but are played off as signal issues what is that about? This is about unsafe cardiology practices. Horrible patient care and laziness from employees because they are 1099 whats to expect when you don't really work for them, but are contacted to work . A few things that should be warned to anyone who would like to apply here or work there PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION you will not be guaranteed a raise, you will find people have preferential treatment of others (raises/ privileges), and you will find your-self doing the best patient care you can only to have other techs especially the manager and lab supervisor do the best they can to make sure they get paid and quash any important issues you might have because if you try and bring up any issues you have whatsoever then you will be told to be quiet mind your own business and get back to work. As for their devices ,they have no real techs working there they are all 1099 employees and are not certified making it very suspicious who is doing the end of study reports that is not licensed, medicare should be made aware of this erroneous practice. Their old software and antiquated devices should be brought into the light and shown that they lie to cover of negligence when a report has not been done and they over charge for sub-optimal work when there are far better options on the market for telemetry or holters. PLEASE clinicians , physicians ,practitioners if you have learned nothing from reading this please take to heart that your patients safety will always be in jeopardy either due to the technicians watching movies at nigh in lieu of watching your patients ECG/EKG or them selling you a outdated bricks of a device that holds no real value that has antiquated software, that will always break and you have to pay to fix it because your warranties will hardly be honored to say the least , thus truth be told if your looking to waste your time and money please contact this company ACS(Applied Cardiac Sytems), but if you want your patents to have the best possible care and true impeccable EKG reports find another company to do business with, that I can promise you wont regret.
