The DaVinci robot plays a leading role in this must see Netflix documentary!!

Academy Award nominated filmmakers Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick investigate the unforeseen consequences of advanced technological devices used in the medical field in the riveting documentary The Bleeding Edge. With an absorbing combination of information and personal tales of tragedy, this insightful film examines the lax regulations and corporate cover-ups of the $US400 billion medical device industry.

Assessment of Conflicts of Interest in Robotic Surgical Studies: Validating Author's Declarations With the Open Payments Database.
Patel SV, et al. Ann Surg. 2018.

CONCLUSIONS: We found that it was common for payments from Intuitive to be undeclared in robotic surgery articles. Mechanisms for accountability in COI reporting need to be put into place by journals to achieve appropriate transparency to those reading the journal article.

Like it or not, robotics is the future of surgery, and DaVinci is the 8000 pound gorilla.

Much like your employer, Intuitive Surgical, you got your facts wrong. From the article you are trying to quote, it is 800...dumbass

You should be out looking for a second job, shouldn’t you. Those 5 shares of isrg stock you do have are shitting the bed. Was it you who posted you were already supposed to be at 600 and split by now?

go fix your robot, it sucks, and now America has another reminder from the nbc piece...

Someone...please... explain to me why Intuitive Surgical is submitting patents for portable payment systems? Is the robot going to have patients swipe their credit cards to ensure they continue to be overpaid?

    • Point-of-sale systems
      Patent number: 10147080
Abstract: A point-of-sale (POS) system is provided. The POS system may include an adjustable housing configured to receive a computing device. The POS system housing may be adjustable so that a screen of the computing device can be viewed by a merchant and a customer. The computing device may be removable from the housing for use as a mobile POS system. The POS system may also include electronics for accepting various forms of payment and for connecting the computing device to a network.

ISRG split 3-to-1 in 2017. Doubt it will happen again any time soon, but it made a lot of people money. Even those who only had five shares.

Almost Every single verb you used in your statement was past tense. Much like your words, your robot will also soon only be referred to in the past tense - lives it destroyed, injuries it caused, and the date it was RECALLED...

Good point! This is really just the icing on the cake compared to negligence and defective design this patent is attempting to redesign

Current known issues and Intuitive Surgical patent applications trying to remediate: (this means ISI KNOWS there is an issue)
    https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfMAUDE/detail.cfm?mdrfoi__id=7648276&pc=N AY
“Broken wire at the weld combined with silicone potting separation likely created a path for arcing to occur, which confirms the customer reported complaint. Wire breakage at weld is a known issue which is not attributed to mishandling/misuse engineering has determined that the failure related to this complaint, the conductor wire pulling out from the weld location at the base of the instrument, is not user interaction related.“
 Per Intuitive Surgical’s own patent request:
Electrically conductive reducer device, related systems, and related methods (Intuitive knows there is a
defect in design. This isn’t a patent for an improvement of a design, it is a complete redesign) Patent #20180132890
Description of Patent : Some surgical tools that utilize electrical power are susceptible to capacitive coupling with other surgical tools, such as other instruments, cannulas, etc. during use. Capacitive coupling can generate a leakage current in the surgical tool which, if not dissipated in a controlled and predictable manner, could potentially result in misdirection of electrical energy. In some cases, the cannula is made from a conductive material, such as a metal or alloy, and contact or sufficient proximity between the conductive cannula and a conductive portion of the instrument permits a conductive pathway from the instrument to the cannula to dissipate any leakage current to the patient's body wall through the outer surface of the conductive cannula, with the patient typically being further electrically grounded via a return pad to a ground terminal. A need exists to provide a conductive path between a conductive cannula and an instrument that is inserted through a reducer device positioned within the cannula. It is desirable to provide such a conductive path while providing reducer devices that are relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

Happy New Year! Is 2019 the year that ISRG is finally brought down by DWAS?! How will it happen, and when?! What is on the horizon?!

ISI - why don’t you enlighten us all and let us know how many millions you set aside to settle lawsuits this year??... how many deaths and injuries has risk management mapped out for Intuitive Surgical in 2019? How many recalls due to nonconforming materials and defective design will actually be reported? Plans on any process improvements (ISO) to adhere to in manufacturing? My guess is anyone bothering to post on this board either has no shares of isrg and if they do, it’s underwater. What is the plan to retain the worthless employees you do have??
