Big mistake. I am already looking for a new job now and know a few others that I trust are extremely unhappy too. The managers here are way too intense with the frequency of calls and ride-a-longs. This is what big-pharma primary care companies do, not seasoned top producing employees in a culture that was described so differently during the interview process and that managers would be hands-off. We know what needs to be done and don't need to be shadowed. Customers find this type of visit as cringeworthy and not wanted. Trainer Chuck, you are WAY too intense and need to cut back. No one wants to work in a toxic environment where they feel they are constantly being monitored.

The cast off managers and directors from Novo Nordisk simply brought the micromanagement that didn’t work there to Sage. I knew that coming here so not surprised much.

Yes I agree as well! It's terrible! This was not supposed to be like that. I have feelers out already. The worst kind of job is to have a micromanager up your ass. Thanks a lot Sage!

I feel like I have woken up to a nightmare. They have no clue how to manage people. Management can either make or break a job and they are overly micro managing everything. It is so sad that I have heard from so many people making the same type of comments.

Field Contact Reports? Call Reporting? I was told none of this would happen and they would be so different from the big pharma companies out there. If they continue to go down this path, they will lose a lot of sales people.

i am supposed to start interviewing again in 2019 for the second round of hiring of the sales force as many are since it was put on hold for now as I am sure many are. Can anyone elaborate on exactly what is so terrible over at sage so we know whatwe are getting into? I have been reading the posts but was hoping for more specific information. I had heard the culture was great over there so I am surprised to see all the negative posts. Any info would be really helpful so myself and others can make a decision to continue in the interview process or pull out. Thank you.

It's nothing like they said it would be. Terrible big pharma metrics and manager's breathing down your necks constantly and asking dumb questions as if we don't know what we are doing. We don't need to be overly managed like this. They definitely don't have a hands-off mentality here. How on Earth can someone be expected to have performance reviews/performance plans reviews and we haven't even started yet. GIVE US A CHANCE TO BREATH! No one wants to work in this kind of pressure cooker. If you want a company that will track what you do on a constant basis and have call reporting and other metrics in place where you feel like you are under a microscope then come. Otherwise, heed everyone's advice on here and stay far away. Their management style here is extremely aggressive and it is very scary. No one I have met is happy and fele they are being pushed and pushed. They have created an environment where you feel you are in a pressure cooker and is forcing everyone to rethink staying here. Keep in mind, these are senior reps and they are treating us like a terrible primary-care company.

Wow, we definitely work in different regions/areas. My manager is outstanding, as is the culture. I have spoken with several people in my area who feel the same. You must have ended up with a bad manager. I couldn't be happier. No micromanaging and very positive working environment. I think I'll stay away from this board as I really have to question all the negative posts on here. I have a good feeling they are coming from people actually employed by Sage. Some could be? But now way this is the overarching feeling by people I work with! Good luck!

Been hearing the exact opposite from many. You may be lucky for now.

Every start-up sells the same bulls**t. Big on culture talk, Quality vs Quantity. It happens everywhere until they are faced with some type of adversity. The Novo Club isn't accustomed to actually having to work without unlimited resources and multiple layers, so they are getting a little edgy. Just wait and see.

Directors with mainly Novo experience will fall back on what they know, which is not much and manage like its their first "leadership" role. So they resort to basic pharma primary care 101 like they had when they were the bagel lugging/donut shlepping rep that needed constant oversight to make sure they are working. What a joke!

Agreed. It was all talk here. Be careful what you put down on any Monkey Survey here as well. They say it is anonymous, but it is far from that. Don't believe it? Google Monkey Survey yourself. They click the option to monitor. Trust no one here and consider looking for other opportunities. The company is already desperate and panicking, so the incessant micro management style will only get worse. Terrible leadership that should know that when you manage this way, you are only left with high turnover and unhappy employees. If anyone needs an improvement class it's them. Why on Earth would they think anyone would leave their job, only to be constantly monitored?

Of course, any surveys have the ability to be linked to the person answering the questions. Monkey Survey is no exception- I know first hand! Be warned.

I’m shocked by all the negativity (but I shouldn’t, it’s cafepharma after all) and I’m assuming it has to be manager specific complaints. I’ve had an incredibly positive experience thus far and have not once felt micromanaged. My manager has been incredible. When they (eventually) hire for Wave 2, I’d absolutely recommend Sage to friends and past colleagues I respect. Just do your homework, maybe there are some crappy managers out there but it’s not the norm.

Unfortunately, You're not the norm. We have no idea who your manager is, but glad for you that you have a nice one. You're still not going to be able to escape all the other sh*t they will make you do as well as all the other monitoring tools. I think you are in a temporary state of bliss but I hope I am wrong. I also would not recommend coming here. It is not a new company, with a new culture. All talk.

Are you serious? That's all everyone is talking about. You must have come from a micromanaged pharmaceutical company and you're used to it. I am one of the KAMs and I can't stop the calls from my manager. I'm over managed to death.
