But among attendees of the conference, there's some skepticism about whether the deal will go through. Instead, there's a possibility that another pharmaceutical company could come in and make a bid for BMS - nixing its deal with Celgene entirely.

Often looked at as a potential takeover target, it's possible BMS could get acquired itself, particularly from companies looking to beef up their presence in cancer immunotherapy

Interesting news out of the JPM conference...

no chance this happens. All the companies that could pull it off had two years to buy BMS...now all of a sudden they are going to buy? Why? What’s the rationale?

FAKE NEWS! Click bait. Cafe Pharma is a cesspool.

If a company came to buy BMS (no clue why that would happen - they are buying Celgene bc they don't have a pipeline) the acquiring company would be responsible for paying BMS' $2.5B break up fee to Celgene. Won't happen.

exactly the BMS pipeline is dogshit. Sure Eliquis and Opdivo can hold the company for 5 years but after that it’s over. That’s the entire reason for this move. Allows BMS to use Celgenes pipe until their scientists can come up with something or buy another string of pearls acquisition...

Why would any company want BMS for its short term potential? Makes no sense.
