VA facilities offer medical services to active and retired military personnel. Active and retired military personnel have access to a health care option called TRICARE for life, which can be used in addition to medicare. This option allows the beneficiary to take advantage of low out-of-pocket costs such as co-payments and other small fees. In my opinion, I think that TRICARE for life is a positive benefit for military personnel and their families and the effect will create a better balance for the hospital.

The VA Mission Act of 2018, helps address the issue of funding for medical coverage for veterans. The military benefits website gives insight to one of the most important reasons an individual should have health insurance. β€œThe VA Mission Act does some important things in the short term as well as introducing long-care fixes. The short term improvements are crucial for some veterans; the Act eliminates a gap in care due to funding issues associated with the VA Choice program. ("Military Benefits", 2019).
The Mission Act will include: preventing long wait time to visit a physician, the option to receive health care at a community facility with similar pricing, walk-in service, job related medical problems, and monitoring the opioid prescriptions issued to each beneficiary .

TRICARE for life is established as a secondary insurance coverage for military personnel. Those individuals eligible for TRICARE must also have medicare as their primary coverage. Medicare is divided into four parts. Medicare part A will cover inpatient hospital care, hospice, and in some cases home health care. Part A also has various deductibles and coinsurance premiums that the beneficiary is responsible for paying.
Medicare part B consists of fees assessed by the doctor or labs. There are also equipment costs that can be added to the service fees. Part B also comes with a monthly premium.
Medicare Part C allows the beneficiary to personalize there health care options and create their own team of health care providers. Part C also comes with varying premium costs.
Medicare part D will cover the beneficiaries prescription drug costs. There premiums, co-payments, and deductibles expected to be covered by the beneficiary.

Implementing the TRICARE for life insurance coverage plan would significantly promote wellness for veterans. Preventive care will cut costs on long term or chronic illnesses which can minimize the cost of healthcare for both the facilities and the beneficiary.
