Trump supporters mindlessly chanting “BUILD THE WALL,” and Trump’s, “My way or the highway,” attitude and refusing to negotiate on Border Security just shows that he only has his own political agenda at heart, and couldn't give a good damn about our country. The security systems at NAS Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base is a good example why fences and/or walls are not necessary to keep an area secure. While the majority of the base is fenced, and there is high security at all gates (liken that to ports entry at the Southern Border), the entire northern boundary of the base is Lake Worth and there are NO fences or walls along the shoreline. That “border” is secured with patrols and electronic sensors and CCTV cameras and in the 46 years I have been associated with the base it has not once been a problem. Our southern Border already has hundreds of miles of walls/fences near cities and other ports of entry. And while it is true that there MAY be some more walls/fences required in other areas, the majority of the 2,000 mile border does NOT require walls/fences, which would be a tremendous waste of funds and do little, if any good. If you believe in FACTS, that is NOT where drugs or illegals are entering the country and those areas not walled/fenced can (and already are) be more efficiently secured by modern, high tech security systems (electronic sensors, CCTV Cameras, Drones, etc.) and patrols. Of course, a lot more funds must be allocated—billions probably—to beef up and add too existing security, including more border guards, repair of existing walls/fences and even construction of SOME additional fencing/walls—but not for building 2,000 miles of old fashioned, useless walls.
