    https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/merck-announces-appointment-of-jim-scholefield-as-chief-information-and-digital-officer-2018-10-17

Hopefully Jim Scholefield still gets free sneakers from Nike; he can use them when asked what experience he has of the Pharma industry. Making soap powder at P&G is kinda like making vaccines though, right?!

Robert Davis owes me a new keyboard after making me spit my morning coffee on mine reading this, "...Jim Scholefield as chief information and digital officer...", "...experience leading large global IT organizations for multinational companies, including developing innovative digital capabilities..."

More candidates for bullsh!t bingo incoming!!! ;) I'm predicting more pointless training for everyone on what it means to live, learn and work in the digital society.

At least having worked at Ford and Coca-Cola he has great experience working at huge multinationals that are past their prime. That will serve him well at Merck.

No mention of who he will report to :D

My money is on Jimmy already having been told that #1 on his objectives is "Don't get caught sleeping on the job whilst malware takes out 95% of our IT infrastructure like the last guy."

Give the guy a break, he has just been through a really gruelling interview process...

Are you good with reporting to the CFO?
Only if I can be chief of Digital too?
    Congratulations, the job is yours.

Can't wait to see how this guy manages to fuck this place up even more than the previous administration...

    1. Begin project to replace ERP system with even worse ERP system for double the money because you don't want to be left out as the only CIO that didn't do this.
    2. Tell everyone in IT to stop doing their actual role and work on your favourite "digital" pet project instead then claim nobody is at fault when production is halted.
    3. Replace technology hubs/innovation centers/etc. with this week's buzz word you read on CIO.com only to find after your are millions of dollars in the hole that unsurprisingly the article you read was BS.
    4. Spend 7 of every 8 hours in each working day on the golf course or planning to be on the golf course.

you forgot (5) adopt whatever project management methodology, IT framework or software development approach is flavor of the month this month, waste millions of dollars on consultants, training and roll-out only to realise years later the only outcome was to create further paperwork in an already paperwork-heavy environment with little-to-no actual purpose.
