Mylan was smart. They did it to make a point esp in light of govt talks about how to reduce drug prices. GSK is doing what pharma is known for....not dropping prices despite a product having been out for almost 2 decades and having the opportunity to drop the price significantly. Mylan is making a point for what generics can do to reign in drug costs. Which one will pharmacies buy? The cheapest...would be surprised if GSK keeps the price as high as advertised at this point if they want to compete in generic space.

All the freaking out on here just proves people on here don't think like business people.
70% discount is still less than WE discount Symbicort to be on formularies. All this discount means is patients will pay most of the $95-$150 cost of generic Advair. The managed care companies wont get any rebates so they will have no reason to want a step edit. An MCO Paying for generic advair will cost about the same they pay for Symbicort. This price point just proves there will be NO contracting on Mylans part and is more to hold off other generic competition.
All of you freaking out just prove you havent thought this thru from the payer side. End result is patients that get switched from advair to the generic will pay more.

medicare d plans have on avg a $15 copay for generics and preferred brands have a $45 copay and savings cards don’t work for med d patients. That will be a tough space to compete in!

No guarantee that the generic Advair will be a $15 copay also this wont affect current symbicort users. Med d plans are all about contracting too.

Mister know-it-all on ACCESS, you are a freaking idiot. Mylan has a copay card program on top of the discount, and GSK has a special brand for Gx blocking program brewing. PRASCO AG is exactly the same ADVAIR product, and they will be forced to go down under Mylan by at least another 5% from where they launched at... think about what we did for CRESTOR, or Pfizer did for LIPITOR, and then tell me that SYMBICORT is isolated from market pressures. State MEDICAID will move over in a wave in max 30 days, PART D will collapse as well and GSK will mop up with their special BforG program. Good luck all..!!!

My DSM was on a call today with DF as a guest. He said that DF literally said they aren't expecting too much from the generic. When I heard that, I wanted to both laugh and cry.

DF is a moronic do nothing who has failed his way to the top by riding TBs coattails all the way from Gsk . he couldn’t care less about generic Advair because no matter what he does or doesn’t do, field sales always gets blamed for everything...but somehow when we succeed it’s always because of his ‘so called leadership.,

does anyone find it ironic that the Symbicort car crashed at the race over the weekend??

Love how they can afford to send brand team to the race and sponsor some stupid car
But apparently it’s not in the budget to give us samples.
,no doc on planet earth is going to give aF about a race car when theyre going to start a patient and haven’t had symb samples in months!!!

GI specialist here, I love NASCAR and cars. Bring them up and you’ll get access and sigs no problem.
What I despise is minority reps who emulate Rappers. RNs block them for me.

Doesn’t it cost close to $1,000,000 to sponsor a car?!

Have any of your providers brought up generic advair yet? Anyone know about it’s availability?

It's out there. Followed a Mylan rep into office and saw the leave behind. Nothing really earth shattering. Focus more on discount than anything else.

Good thing the rep didn't oversell his point:

"Hey doctor here's the exact same thing for a huge discount."

You obviously dont understand how managed care works. The net cost to the MCO for generic advair is actually more than the net cost for Symbicort. This 70% discount is a gimmick. MCOs only care about their bottom line. Also, PBMs are making millions on symbicort and will make nothing on generic advair at this cost. You are a fool if u think generic advair will be successful. Mylan f'd it up.
