Yeah, because the SEC doesn’t have enough to do?

    Pharmacist/patient here.
    NOBODY is covering this insurance-wise.
The $125 discount card still leaves this as more expensive than the topicals.

Do patients like the topicals? They have application and transfer issues. The IM office administration clutters the office with patients that have to be injected every two weeks. Xyosted can be self administered at home when it is convenient for the patient and should be less painful than the IM. In short time the insurance coverage should improve and it will be more cost effective for payers than the office administration of the IM. We will see.

Just stumbled onto this threat while googling how to pay for this medication. I am just a patient and am not at all in the medical field. I tried a gel before but had a skin reaction and major irritability. So, my doc wrote me a script for Xyosted along with a free sample. I used it today and far prefer that experience to applying gel. No transfer to my daughters/wife, no awful smell, etc. I would gladly use this but my insurance excludes it, so I would have to pay over $500/month for it (minus $125 for the savings card) which makes it unobtainable for the average patient.

Talk to your doctor and ask him to get a Pre Authorization from your insurance company. Most Insurance plans require a Pre Authorization for Testosterone treatments. The company (Antares Pharmaceuticals) that makes Xyosted provides help to doctors and patients to get Pre Authorizations from their insurance companies.

Xyosted scripts are growing more than 10% per week. It is received extremely well and insurance coverage is rapidly increasing. Until your insurance covers it use the company's copay program.

Great numbers on Xyosted today! It is beginning to take off. We should not be surprised it is the best testosterone treatment on the market! Congrats!

How do you get the preauth when UHC says it is excluded from coverage and to use something else? I think you missed the point. And no, I will not pay $375/month while waiting for UHC to change their mind.

    Comments from Cowen!

Now several months into the Xyo launch, we surveyed urologists and endocrinologists who treat low T patients. The results indicate substantial awareness in the market and we expect significant uptake through 2019. We also spoke with consultants, who had prescribed Xyo and indicate that patients are satisfied, and access has been seamless. These early signals indicate a healthy launch.

    Total Scripts

    Hikma………….1.001

    Antares Pharma……1.000

    Teva ……………………40

Looks like Xyosted is leading the other injectables in class. It seems that growth is coming from the non-injectables which demonstrates patients will prefer an injectable instead of topical applications with the superior drug as is Xyosted. Good work!

Every insurance allows your MD to apply for an exception for drugs excluded from coverage and they are more often granted than not if you have a good case, such as problems with thick needles and absorption issues with patches etc, or you simply need the superior PK profile from Xyosted because others have swings which will not keep you in your target T range like Xyosted does. Coverage is trending towards over 70% (most need pre-auth which is different from the exception above and always granted) so UHC should cover it soon in most regions as well.
