What’s the breakdown for Amgen in this? Can someone provide an estimate - specifically in the Bone health unit.
    Thanks!

Salary depends on your industry experience. We have a range on our team 85k-110k. The bonus structure is 35k at plan. Amgen has a very generous 401k plan and 2 weeks shutdown.

I legitimately work for another large pharmaceutical company, 15+ yrs experience.
Am considering applying for a blue or white position? I believe they are both in primary care setting vs calling on just "specialties".
My base salary is bit above $103k. I've heard of reps that have left to go on to bigger things, or at least other companies , that have raised their base by like 10-15k, or 10% +/-. Would it be possible for a $110-115k base with Amgen/ my experience, or is that a pipe dream?
Also, with my experience, would I automatically,no matter what, come in as an Act 1, whatever that means? Or is their something above that?

I’m guessing you’ll be offered around 110k based on your experience. You would start at Act 1. It doesn’t matter what previous experience you have for the Act level. Everyone starts at 1 and works their way up.

yes you will make more than that! You will come in as an act 1

So, 150 tops in big pharma is the norm. not much ability to go beyond that.

You can definitely negotiate around $110-$115k! Don’t take the first offer they give you, there is always room for negotiation if they really want you. And yes other posters are right with 80/85 as low range for less experienced reps. It can go to around 120 but the possibility is slim as that would put you in a very high position of pay when increases come along so they do like to start off low.

Definitely ask for $113-115K w 15 yrs experience. Reasonable ask.... a 10% increase when you switch jobs. You can also negotiate a nice size sign on bonus. Don't kid yourself though.... Amgen is as big pharma as they come. They place more emphasis on checking boxes than good business strategy. It's a shame.

Looking to apply to Amgen Osteoporosis position. Have 6+ years in osteoporosis, 10+ pharma. How is the IC? How is size of territories? What's the biggest challenge for this market currently. Thank you.

Bone health has a high turnover in my area. Literally every quarter they’re lookin for a replacement. There are about 3 maybe 4 territories around under same DM and it’s always someone leaving.

Mainly because of poor management and treating reps like they are unimportant and not caring if they leave or stay with lots of high stress to have to put up with. Not worth it.

for those of us outside of Amgen, can you please explain what act 1 is and it’s significance?

Thank you in advance for any insight

110k base here with 35k target bonus
I only work 20 hours a week and am able to work a 2nd job as a hospice rep. Pretty good gig here, workload is really low and great for work/life balance or a 2nd job.

Whatever dude, blame it on Amgen. Average rep in bone health works 20-25 hours a week. This is how buy and bill pharma works. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Its true. With the buy and bill model it does not make good business sense to work more than 20 hours a week. If you really want to make good money and if you have a very strong work ethic it makes a lot of sense working a second job. Real Estate and Toxicology/Drug Testing are excellent complimentary jobs.

These are all lies and you give pharmaceutical sales a bad rap. You're an idiot and a liar for posting this. Also, if anyone tries to work additional hours anywhere, you will be instantly fired from both jobs. Your reputation destroyed and you will never get another job anywhere. This is a very small industry and people talk. You're a complete moron.

no offense, but if you have been in the industry for 15 years and only have that small of a base? Thats rather pathetic. Don't know where you have worked. Quintiles?

The bottom entry level position of new hires. Next is Act 2 which is relatively easy to get if you do your job are proactive and show some leadership qualities. Act 3 is elusive! Good old boy, numbers ( which are never accurate, just an industry standard) 3-5 year process after being an act 2 for 2 years. Oh and no promotion in the company is accessible unless you have it. Reps are pitted against each other in the chase.

This is embarrassing for a supposed biotech company. I work for another biotech company, am in my late 40’s, and my Base salary just passed 160k. Our bonus structure is only slightly better, but we get a ton of RSU’s every year. Seems like Amgen has morphed into big pharma.
