So I was just laid off, and I only had two years at Takeda, two years experience in pharma total.
I’ve been applying like crazy to jobs and they all say I don’t have enough years in pharma. What if I put down some random company on my resume that was bought out awhile back? IF I don’t put the company on the third party background check (the official one they do after an offer) will I get caught? I wonder because I left off jobs on those checks before and no one said anything.

mmmm, not sure. Is there a magical database that lists employment? Or do they only call the companies you list?

Takeda is the definition of big Pharma. 2 1/2 years total? And you wonder why Shire reps are pissed off.

i have been thru many lay offs and company mergers in my pharma days, when i list last company title instead of each one as they merged , i had every company make me list every company name before buy out or merger and date so for instance if ur shire rep and now takeda rep, one would put take and combine years of experience, but you will need to break up each company and dates and they do check

Yes, of course they check the companies you list. But what if you leave it off the background check application? Because that’s totally different than your resume and original application

2 years is plenty, just keep looking for the right opportunity.

Just accepted a job offer and getting ready to resign so I just went through the background check. They will check. You either give permission for them to call Shire/Takeda or if you don’t they ask for pay stubs &/or W-2s that go back to prove your employment. They will ask for what’s on your resume and it will typically be auto filled in when you receive the information from the company conducting the check. You can’t fake it

2 1/2 yrs? Hell, you’re veteran at Takeda.

yes you can fake a job. If it’s about ten years ago they don’t care if it’s left off background check

You are still an employee of Takeda until June 1. You need to say you are still employed while applying to other jobs. You also may not be getting interviews if you are applying to jobs that do require more years. Not trying to be rude, just being straight forward. Don’t lie. Everyone in pharma is connected. It’s not worth losing respect over a lie. Good luck. Keep trying. Some companies do like non pharma lifers . Good luck

They do check. The poster who said if it was 10 years ago is probably right-they won’t likely check that far back. But if you make up some company and say you worked there 4 years ago-they’ll want proof of that in the way of pay stubs or w-2s to verify if they can’t get a hold of them. Honestly, the previous poster is correct. Don’t lie-you’d be surprised how small this industry is. And they are also right that you have to apply for the appropriate positions. 2 years in pharma is plenty for many jobs. You may not get into specialty and have to do a more primary care job for a couple more years, or you may get lucky and not. But it should be more than enough to at least get that. Just keep trying.

if you’re concerned about lying on your background check, we don’t want your unethical ass representing our company. Go cheat your way somewhere else bottom-feeder

Sheez! Calm down, it’s not like Takeda is a shining beacon of light in pharma

Takeda is a shining beacon of turd. Except for oncology, Takeda has been the most metric driven, low paying companies in the industry. Oh ya, with roommates. Buying Shire saved Takeda.

Agreed! Calm the f?<k down, Francis. Integrity was real at Takeda once upon a time. It is long dead now - just ask the VP from Shire who was screwed out of the spot by Steve S. and BJ - so that Steve could promote Chris D. Not a lot of integrity there!! Sh!tty moves!

My advice find a small start up, they don’t do extensive background checks. It costs too much
