Would love to hear the pros and cons of the role. Is it flexible? Thanks for any input!

Soul sucking job that owns you. That said, you can do ok in trading your time for money if you are lucky enough to get an established territory from an older rep that has been forced out to retire. Generally though any new rep is a token rep we hopes to gain a few accounts that will get distributed to us established reps when you leave in 18 months. You generally must be good looking too. Many regions hire young attractive females appealing to male dentists. Not sure why though since there are more women in dentistry. Either way there is a pimp factor. It is not what it used to be. You’ll go out and sell on price because that is all you have and then you’ll be stuck with a load of accounts you have to service and make no money on because you want to match Net32 prices.

This would be a rookie territory, so def no established accounts.

The run for the exits has started in some markets. What’s going on?

Musical chairs game, a lot of reps are moving from the company to a competing company and competing reps coming over.

Why work for S when you could work from your house for their Darby division. Lol

What would Schein offer to a rep coming over from a different distributor?

YES…it is really that bad! Original post in 2019, it’s worse than ever at Henry Schein Dental in 2022. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from Henry Schein Dental. Reps now treated like garbage from management. It’s no longer a profession, it’s just a soul-sucking stressful job at a company where managers are corporate robots with no real authority. Never would have predicted this and expect the next many years will be steady decline in the field sales group. Good job only for a rookie to get into industry and then transition to a company that isn’t imploding and respects their field reps.

it’s as good as you make it. This person is just miserable. Speaking of, we just acquired Midway, which hopefully means we get rid of a handful of other miserable reps too

People will find reasons to complain about this but it’s a good move

    why is it? Asking seriously.

Because the soulless, if not evil “dark arts” sales managers will tell their reps the reason they aren’t making the money they want to make is they haven’t been able to sell Midway. The rep will be given false hopes and will lapse into despair once they realize this is not so.

I just have to say that Midway will be the BIG news and shoved down the reps throat by The Manager because that’s how he is going to get paid as well, nothing new, except the pay structure for the rep will likely include that they have to sell a certain amount of said product in order to hit a certain level of commission. So times that product by 10 other items you now need to sell and you are one stressed out Rep. Also, keep in mind that as a Rep or FSC. You also are doing a lot of switching out. So you are probably going to Drs that see you and order from you and trust you so then you give them the old latest greatest product taking away the Manufacturer rep that just bought you lunch’s lunch money. So every time you see your account, you do it again and it just gets old. Especially when it’s really not the exact same thing according to the Dr and he returns it and doesn’t really trust your knowledge anymore. So basically you end up feeling and looking stupid. Why the heck does HSI not think it’s immoral to thought one project over the other without real proof? Ole Henry would clean house if he were alive.
