There aren't any bonuses. Maybe MBOs if we are lucky.

How much bonus did you think the MBOs will be?

If it’s all about the patients, our senior leadership must suffer from porphyria. In an interesting dichotomy, all of our bonuses were capped at 90% but clearly that did not happen at the top. Leadership here always says we are in this together, but looking at what was said compared to what actually happened makes it pretty clear we are in an Animal Farm environment where some pigs are more equal than others. That is unless you want to believe that the 357% increase in pay for John represented only an 80% cut of his bonus. Doubtful. Clearly we understand that senior management will be paid handsomely, but don’t tell us one thing then do another for yourselves. My 90% cut was insignificant. If bonus was based on how the company performed and it didn’t perform at 100%, then why are the individuals driving this breaking down bus so well rewarded. If the reason Alnylam did not perform were Strategic in Nature, one has to ask who sets strategy? According to my review, I hit or exceeded every goal I was expected to hit. Did they?

    WHAT WAS SAID:

    Annual Incentive Awards

Bonus awards take into account not only individual performance, but also corporate performance. The corporate bonus multiplier is applied to an employee’s individual bonus multiplier as part of final bonus payment determinations. For 2018, how we will be applying the corporate bonus multiplier will be different than in past years. That is, the corporate bonus multiplier will be tiered based on level. For VPs and above the corporate multiplier will be 80% and below VP will be 90%. The rationale for this change is to recognize that many of Alnylam’s challenges in 2018 were strategic in nature and not within most employees’ control. The Senior Management team and the Board of Directors wanted to ensure that the bonus structure reflects results as well as how hard the organization worked.

    WHAT HAPPENED:

    Article from Enpoint News:

After landing a historic FDA OK, Alnylam chief John Maraganore scores a big raise.

CEO John Maraganore and his top team at the bellwether biotech enjoyed a multimillion-dollar windfall.

That $5 million marked a big spike on the $1.4 million Maraganore earned in 2017.

Commercial chief Barry Greene came into his own with close to $3 million in compensation, up from $944,145. R&D chief Akshay Vaishnaw went from $915,218 to $2.6 million, with COO Yvonne Greenstreet paralleling that while CFO Manmeet Soni saw his package slide from $4.5 million — which included his recruitment bonus — down to about $1.4 million.

    Decide for yourself.

People are quitting because of the comp plan.

Why would comp be important? It is all about the patient.

Another research company trying to make the commercial jump. Rarely works - for this exact reason. The home office peeps that defend - don't seem top realize that without sales- checks go away....

Perhaps if you sales pukes could use proper spelling and grammar, which is fairly simple as the computer can check both for you, we wouldn't think that you were bottom feeding numb nuts.
