that sucks, seems like the DaVinci is a cool system to work with...so what is the average clinical rep making these days at Intuitive? what are sales managers making? Do the sales managers burn out the same way or do they last longer?

If you are thinking about joining this company to make big $$$, think again. They recruit and train like U.S. Surgical - and demand results with 20-30% growth annually. Fact is, they are living on yesterday's news. Procedures are not growing and hospital capital budgets are dry. I have been promoted twice in three years with the company and feel less secure today than ever before --- and I have consistently been a top producer with the company! It simply does not have the promise that it did before. You will not have any work/life balance and the commissions suck for what you put in. The internal recruiters tell you that you'll make north of $250K as a rep., about $300K as a RM, well beyond that as a CSD. Sorry to break the news, but it just is not happening in Intuitive anymore. Think more about senior managment's mantra of churn and burn baby.

Ok, to all my delusional peers,

Yes, Hospitals will go with the newer, better, (most likely Titan) robotic system. Simply because most hospitals were treated pretty poorly by ISRG in years past.

When it is available, prob sooner rather than later, most hospitals will buy their next system from the new guys, just so they can screw us back and get a better system for a better price.

We won't own the market any longer, we can't keep acting like pricks and treating our sales people like tissue paper, wiping our a$$** with them and flushing them down the toilet.

They will go and sell for the comp.

We need to actually be dynamic leaders, rather than nazis and develop and take care for our own.

There's bad leadership below J.A. right now, if it wasn't for him and J.M. we wouldn't be where we are today.

I say most above the CSD position and some in that position gotta go, you've been here too long and you haven't done anything except whack people out of the company you feared would be better than you.

CSRs , CSMs and most other's don't make what they used to.

3-5 years ago this was the place to be, not any more.

Hello, the stock is not going to $500, so the stock/options aren't the incredible opportunity they used to be.

The company has been hiring some real mediocre reps in the past 2 and we will pay the price. Truth is most of the industry's best sales people don't want to work for our company any more, they've heard too much of the truth.

So now we get the middle of the packers.

C'mon Titan, you can't get to market soon enough.

I rarely see a post on a job board not fraught with all the bad stuff about an organization.
IS is a job calling on surgeons doing cases so the hours will go with the role no matter how good or bad the company is. The bases are decent 80k and up to the low 100's on the equipment side. Commissions are still being made and even if you last 24-36 months you go out with some great experience. Most people I talk to work very hard but privately say they love their jobs. On the job boards..as you know... you never know who you are talking to. Maybe its the lead team for Titan trying to rock the IS ship....must info about job pay and hours are accurate. Lots of the other stuff is just comments

Is Intuitive the same in 2011 as 2010; JM and JA are still running the show so their problem is safe and sound. It is well known in the industry that they run a culture of fear and intimidation, VPs are simply buddies who are promoted into the JA club, don't be hard on them if they can't manage or run the business, they're in the club now and that's what matters! Culture is bad as it has ever been, wonder what area of the country will get fired next, stellar management from JA causes him to clear through a geography every year.

    ???Please do explain.

P.S. Apligraf is a shit product. Only good thing about it is it's as cheap as loose leaf paper; however just as affective.

Apligraf can't hold a candle to lifecell products.

    You fucking r*****!!!
You have to apply the shit every 2 weeks and the docs love it because they can charge their moronic pt's to come in for a new application and thats how these retarded docs get paid by debriding and using apligraft frequently.

Definitely fits the business model for wound clinics to make money but this product is highly ineffective and guess what no one is motivated in a wound clinic to heal wounds quickly. This is why they use ur piece of shit product.
    Thats a fact.
Actually you shouldn't even respond because whatever is gonna come out of your mouth is bullshit!!!

I don't work for this company but dude you sound happy where you are. Don't fix what isn't broken. Continue to enjoy your life if it is working for you. Glad to hear that things are good for you.

Looking into this company and it sounds like a disaster. I have some advice after working for a a manager who ruled by fear. A few of us got together and decided that we were going to scare the sh*t out of him to make him leave or shut him up and change his whole act around. It worked. We intimidated the hell of him to the point where he feared for his well being and stopped being the di8k thathe was. Get your managers in this company that are ruining a nice product and company and make them feel physically and mentally afraid. It will work.

from what I've seen, most of the managers use fear and intimidation. their technology is great...but Titan will kick their ass with a few tweaks.
You can be nice and treat CSR's with the respect they deserve. These guys and gals are the ones making the company grow. They are exceptionally hard-working professional reps that deserve WAY more than the less than 200K they are pulling down. The fat cats at the top need to get a grip on the 1980's US Surgical style- model of management. They are training great Reps to go to work for all other decent medical device companies. The surgeons love these CSR's (that do all the heavy-lifting) and have no love-loss for upper management.

What is the comp, broken down by base + commission, for NY area CSR/KAM positions (NYC/LI) these days? Any current insight on culture and challenges in this geographic area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I think I can add some color to this question & comment. I've spent a good number of here years at ISI, and they are legitimately screwing the reps…..specifically the higher paid Senior Reps. This is NOT a secret to anyone working here and above a junior rep/ CTA level. Take a look at the model in place....they are raising quotas to an unbelievably and unrealistic level so the Sr. CSR's will eventually leave, and they don't have to announce any layoffs. Then, they replace the Sr. Rep with 1-2 associate level reps in their place. The heavy lifting in General Surgery has been done, now all they need is a warm body in the room to cover cases and maintain their current business as competition comes to the forefront. The company is all about keeping a high price on its volatile stock, if they announce layoffs as they did back in 2013-2014, it would affect their stock (Again). Its all about reducing overhead.....a Sr. CSR is paid $225+ at plan, an Associate Reps is paid about $85k at plan. They will hire 2 associate reps to "cover cases" rather than sell, and thereby reducing company overhead. General Surgery has flatlined in most territories and they just want to hold on to what they have...and an Associate Rep can maintain the status quo. They killed the reps in the past to deliver, and we have, now they set the Sr. Reps out to pasture to cut overhead. This is the reality, and anyone who says this is NOT happening is either a new rep and still in the honeymoon phase or one of those high paid Director or AVP's that keep self promoting one another. Agree or disagree all you want, but the reality is the truth. Everyone in here right now is looking for a way to get promoted or get the hell out of sales roles, including mangers, reps, and directors. Take a look at the Sales Meetings....90% new hires at a CTA level while the talented reps are running for the hills or being chased off.
