Ciprodex is nothing more than a ciprofloxacin drop and decadron drop combined in one container...both of which are generic eye drops. Ask your doctor if he/she would be willing to prescribe you the two generic eye drops. It will be much cheaper than the ridiculously overpriced Ciprodex and it will do the same thing. ENTs do it ALL THE TIME...especially with the high cost of Ciprodex.

You have got to be kidding...that's what they want you to think. You have obviously drank the kool aid. They are BOTH generic and they were BOTH put together to make Ciprodex! Don't listen to the higher ups...they too have drank out of the same punch bowl. ENT's just use generic Ofloxacin and generic Dexamethsone and whammo bammo you have an antibiotic and steroid..for 10 BUCKS!!!!

NO ONE NO ONE has every died or loss their hearing as a result of not using C Dex! Give me a break!

my cost was quoted as $194.00 after my insurance. So it is much more than $20-30 difference.

Just got prescribed Ciprodex. I live in MA and with my insurance I only had to pay out of pocket $20 but on the package the "retail cost" was $225.99 .....

I just got these meds (7.5 ml bottle) for $265, insurance covered $138. It must be that Martin Shkreli has been put in charge of setting costs.

The cost for Ciprodex quoted to me yesterday for a 14 day supply, i.e. 126 drops is $399.99. Is not just 20 or 30 dollars as someone with no knowledge about this has indicated.

You’re kidding, right? I get call backs from families or pharmacists that tell me the medication is 230 bucks, so parents are supposed to pay this outrageous price? No thanks! Ofloxacin eye drops with some prednisone eye drops does the trick just fine at a much cheaper cost.

$325.00 on the label but with my insurance it was $50.00. I have read through this entire thread and have decided on trying an alternative of the eyedrops and Advil next time. To the arrogant person that thinks the average American is stupid for trying a less expensive alternative..shame on you. We all aren't doctors. I am however in charge of paying my bills. Choosing alternatives to big Pharma is okay. It's my choice. I am not less of a person for being open minded. Put your arrogance aside and stay open.

Just to update this thread, I was prescribed Cipro for my ear infection and the cost at Costco is $321 (no, insurance won't cover it and no Rx Coupons available). I've shopped around and all options are $320+. Outrageous!
I appreciate the input on getting 2 generics ear drops prescribed as an alternative, will see if i can have my Doctor try that...

I had a serious ear infection and went to the doctor the week of Memorial Day. They prescribed me Ciprodex. To my horror, after insurance covered their piece, the drops (one little ass bottle that would last 2-3 weeks) still cost $150. I do not know what the sticker price was before insurance. I could not believe it. My pharmacist was cool as hell though and showed me how to find a coupon and that dropped the price all the way to $30. I think the coupon was from the manufacturer website. All you need to do is create an account (login and password) and then download the coupon and the pharmacy can scan the code or input the coupon number. I was really thankful because I had the worst ear infection I have ever had. My whole ear and head were swollen and the pain went down to my jaw and neck. I couldnt chew. Drops did jack crap for a couple days because the ear was so swollen the drops could not even get in. I had to go to an ENT and he had a vacuum tool that shoots water and sucks out the built up infection/fungus. I HIGHLY recommend going to an ENT if your ear infection is not getting better. I had originally just gone to my Nurse practitioner thinking it was just a swimmers ear infection that I have had several times since I was kid since we were always in the water. My ear immediately starting getting better. Advil is the best thing ever. I was alternating that with Tylenol before getting a prescription for Tylenol + Codine tablets. In 3 days I could actually function again. I went that Monday to get another vacuum session. Then the following week it was all cleared up. Basically was a 3 week ordeal. Ciprodex did its job after once it could get in, but the cost was still insane.

To any pharm heads out there, I know the big pharma companies spend a crap load on R&D and they have to pass that along to the consumer, but the fact they can mark it down from $400 or $300 a bottle to $30 a bottle with a coupon tells me there's still a lot of fat in their price that isnt R&D. They're making a killing off the American people because people want to feel better and be healthy. The high demand is already there, and they are capitalizing on it. On the one end I can see the business side. But on the other side I cannot see how anyone could pay $130 a bottle, especially people who are not gainfully employed such as retirees, or people who dont have good insurance.
