You win you’re pip’d and fired, no trip. You lose you’re pip’d and fired, no trip. Abbvie promised to cut $18B in next 36 months and your sales force is starting point. Abbvie will SELL off divisions and break this company up into pieces, keeping the lucrative pipeline and dumping the junk. Good Luck!

Yes, you can be fired for sucking at your job, that would be "cause".

However, if Allergan raised targets after the sale was announced, and then laid off a decent % of workforce for the same reason, it would put them in a pool of liability.

There would be no reason for Allergan to take the legal risk, the severance money is a spit in the bucket, why add to the headache with potential legal risk?

No legal risk, you’re all “at will employees” and can be fired for ANY reason with exception of an EEOC
violation. You reps are stupid as Hell!

I love when people call other people stupid, while proving how stupid they are.

    Let's get some facts straight:

    1. We have employees in every US state, but not all states are "at will" employment states.

    2. In "at will" employment states, you can be fired for any reason that isn't discriminatory, but it doesn't bar you from being sued, and losing that case. Employers get sued all the time and lose all the time.

If an employer is on record saying there will be no layoffs prior to the sale of the company and any layoffs that do happen will be part of the change in control, and then go and fire 1,000 people saying they all miraculously deserve to be fired at the same time and just before the close of the deal, they will be sued (or should be), they will lose, and severance + legal fees will be paid. Allergan is not quite as stupid as you are...

In anti-infectives, the sand with the severance plan would be the best option

    OK, Jiggle Nuts...

I was canned in the first Forest/Activas merger/sale/experiment- whatever that was. I was on board for about 10 years and got a very nice severance package.

Back then, there was a lot of fear mongering and rumor spreading but in the end they treated everybody right. I actually got some nice time off, got back in the gym and got in shape, and actually got a better job outside of Pharma and now make twice the money I ever did with Forest per year. It can actually happen.

My one question is – does everybody get 52 weeks? Back then it was based on years of service, there was kind of a break even point - if things sucked and you were under three years, get out if you can find an opportunity as your severance wasn’t any prize - it was survival $$$ for s few months. Between three and seven it kind of depended. 7+ Years in you wanted to wait around and see if you got the severance package.

Everyone doesn’t qualify for 52 weeks regardless of tenure - do they?

if you are over 50 - bye especially if your numbers are good. Paying your butt to leave. No trip or bonus - see ya! Then again- everyone over a year of employment will have same plan.

based on internal documents posted on Intranet, it seems everyone will get 52-weeks. Happy to confirm if everyone shares the same understanding.

So, if you’ve worked there a year, you get 52 and you’ve worked there 13 years you get 52 weeks?

I’m sorry, but the smart money says you’re reading something incorrectly.
