The little trolls are out in full force today. They constantly cry about Voyant yet they are too lazy to actually get out to the OR and sell. They want everything handed to them. If it's not, it's always Applied's fault. No accountability, just whining.

DG, give us a peek behind the curtain with your sales strategy for Voyant? Oh, the only idea you have is trying to supply customers while Ligasure is on backorder? Imagine my shock. No plans to work with IHN's or any major hospitals....just fingers crossed that they will come to Applied because of a temporary backorder. But hey, I'm sure you or CR or ML will be on here later today to defend your honor and tell us reps to get those signatures and stop crying. It's always the rep's fault...never those utter geniuses in upper management.

If anyone reading this is working for Applied and not hunting for another job you are deceiving yourself. There's no future at Applied, just open your eyes.

Well, you hired them. If you want better reps, I’m sure you could attract top talent with the right mix of comp and products to sell.

The organizational update made me laugh so hard. I haven't visited this website in months but I came hoping to find some laughs about it. You guys are slacking these days...or everyone who used to shit post has left Applied. Anyway, I find it side-splitting hysterical each time there is an organizational update. It's the same people just shuffled around and given new titles. It's like pouring urine into your Brita and expecting pure drinking water to come out. But what can you expect when your top talent leaves you after a couple years because your comp plans are trash and you can't develop new product, just copycats. You're stuck with the same people with the same ideas. But hey, Said is making money....that's all that matters right?

If the Trump border wall goes up, how will it affect the potential talent pool for Applied Medical sales positions?

sales team will be fine just no one to make the shitty products.

    Bad people+bad materials=Success.

I really love Someone to explain to me what voyant is and not some 23 old robot who thinks they are revolutionizing medicine

Applied Medical isn’t even a player anymore. JNJ has been taking business left and right in the northeast and southeast due to relationships, contracts and better sales reps/managers. The surgeons prefer JNJ’s products hands down and leave it to purchasing/materials to negotiate everything these days. It’s a f’ing trocar or retrieval bag, not exactly revolutionary. The Harmonic can get a little more clinical, but the majority of surgeons have seen it and used it more than once in their professional career and are ok with it. Applied’s God awful reputation in the industry has caused surgeons to become gun-shy and hesitant to ever trial any of their unproven garbage products. Patient care comes first, savings is secondary and Applied medical doesn’t seem to understand that.

Talked to my friend in the West and this person said that Medtronic is destroying their business everywhere. JnJ doesn't have a strong foothold, but still Applied is losing ground everywhere. They've yet to unseat a true Medtronic IDN yet. Just a couple of small hospitals looking to go cheap and save money.
Applied doesn't understand that surgeons don't give a rip about cost or the stupid business model. They will pay more for what works best and will give them the best outcome for their patients. Case in point is the DaVinci. Robotic surgery is the way of the future and hospitals will pay whatever the price tag says for it. Intuitive is far ahead of Medtronic and JnJ so you know they are lightyears ahead of Applied. Upper management at Applied is out of touch with reality. Intuitive is destroying JnJ and Medtronic and this market is about to be all theirs. In three years or less all the tools needed to preform any general, gyn, uro, ENT or thoracic surgery will be standard on the DaVinci. They have the perfect business model. If Applied's leadership had any business acumen they would pivot(you're a vertically integrated company so that should be no problem, right?) and go after arthroscopic surgery which is a growing, yet underserved market. But Applied will wait until JnJ and Medtronic go there and then do their typical 510(k) nonsense and always be chasing the pack. But hey, look at the upper management at Applied, they still think the DaVinci is just a novelty and this "phase" will soon be over. But what else do you expect from Boomers?

Valid points, however I think you have a bit of a hard-on for Intuitive. They are good & have a good business model, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that JnJ & Medtronic are going the way of the dinosaurs. I heard from a friend who works at Applied that their mgmt team is trying to pivot but at a loss to figure out how to put together an effective counter-strike against the big boys. Applied has no new technology & everything they sell is a commodity/provides no real value. The bigger issue that I feel Applied is facing is cost-cutting measures at the top of every IDN & reimbursements. The C-suite is looking at the big picture & could give a rat’s a$$ about some trocars. Bundling (GPO & NON-GPO), the ability to get a rebate, new product offerings, etc are what the big wigs really care about. Also, relationships w/ the MDT/JNJ/SYK Senior mgmt teams (both admin & clinical) weigh a lot more than some garbage trocars no one cares about.

I currently work for Applied and I hope your friend is correct that they are trying to pivot, but sadly I don't see any indication that they truly are. They are all in on energy and while Voyant is a very good product, it's up against the King in Ligasure. When you couple that with no strategy other than to get surgeons excited and sign forms then request it, it just doesn't work. The C-Suites don't care that surgeons are asking for a product, this isn't 1994 when the upper mgmt at Applied was last in the OR. Unfortunately the "counter-strike" Applied is firing is to try to get in the stapling market...but I mean when you're a 510k company you don't create anything, you just replicate with a minor tweak, or in Applied's case add a balloon or call it Phase technology. Reps are leaving left and right, and more will be after the 1st of the year when the retention bonuses hit. Mark this down if you are still working for Applied, there will be the highest turnover in many years come late Q1-Q2.

It will be interesting if they follow through with the retention bonuses. If they don’t pay us chaos will begin...

i dont work for Applied nor do I work for a competitor, but if I read this thread correctly, Applied had to pay its reps to stay because no one likes it there?!? I’ve never heard of such a “comp plan!” Hahaha!!!

That is correct. The mistake most make when they think of Applied is that the reps suck. That's not the case at all. Applied actually gets very talented reps who are just looking to break into the industry. They do their 2-3 years at Applied and then get out of Dodge. It's the middle to upper management at Applied that give it the reputation. When I left Applied for the company I currently work for I was hired by someone who got their start at Applied as well. Several years ago Applied tried to keep its talent by offering a three tiered retention bonus program that progressively will pay out. My guess is 40% of the reps who were around when it was rolled out have left the company by now. It appears they are now at a tough decision if what I'm reading could be correct. Do they pay out the bonuses knowing that probably a third of the those they are paying out are going to go get new jobs at the beginning of the year(no chance they are waiting around all three years) or do they renege on the bonus and lose more reps, but keep cash on hand?

been a rep here for Few years and actually making decent money off gels and trocars. I know sounds shocking but I’ve been asking my manager and even my ZD about the bonus because the cynic in me believes applied will fuck it up somehow. But I never got answered and always pushed off.

I come on CP and see someone posting about it and literally the following day my manager tells the team the bonuses are real and coming. I’m pumped and shocked at the same time. Not shocked that Applied will pay it but it’s ironic that it had been posted on here to get attention.

Maybe managers and Zonies should spend more time on here actually listening to legit issues rather
    Than serving that kool aid.

Doesn't shock me one bit either. I saw on one ZD's computer CP on one of their tabs a year ago. The home office monitors this board as well. Good to know that they are going to pay, but never forget that the fine print says they can terminate the program at any time. My guess is they will make the first payment then discontinue the program. Never forget how in 2018 they ended the rep's comp plan 3 quarters in because they were paying out too much and then stuck it too everyone with this bs 5Q comp plan garbage. The funniest part is one of the previous posters mentioned how reps are going to take this payment then leave. LOL I believe all of us are literally thinking the same thing! Renew those medreps subs.

Wow, does the fine print really say they can terminate it at any time? And how much money are we talking if you stay? I am the poster from a few threads up and I am on the Ortho side of the business and can tell you that a good attorney might be able to fight for you, whether it’s a class action lawsuit or not. My guess is the geniuses at the top figured out the break even point of what it would cost for a rep to fight it vs what you’re entitled to and they’re hoping you’ll realize it’s not worth it and just go away. Unfortunately, from what I have read, it sounds like your company is run by a bunch of unethical schmucks and when I Googled your company a little further, there’s a lot of negative information out there. There is some real shady stuff from the SEC and original investors if you know where to look. Companies like this never last and I would never come to a place like this. Good luck to those of you looking for new jobs.

It's not enough to go through the trouble of the attorney. But it looks like we are at least getting the first installment if what I hear is true. But yes, you're correct in your statements about this company and those who run it. Everyone I know here and the Zone beside us that I know is looking for other jobs. It's a dead end company with nothing worth sticking around for.

Everyone sitting on here complaining and looking for another job are gonna look like idiots once our stapling line is released. That’s going to be the turning point with this company. That’ll will help us leave JJ and Medtronic in the dust. I’m not going to need the retainer bonus next year- I’ll be swimming in compensation.

What ever happened to the second generation Voyant products? How are they doing?
