This company is disorganized big pharma in a small package. The ship has hit the iceberg and is slowly sinking. Dan W the CEO moved way to fast. Before even launching Baxdela (a fluoroquinolone for skin), he bought a sinking ship of failing products from the Medicine's company couldn't sell for four years, laying off the majority of their own sales force. Dan bought it anyway, tripled the size of the salesforce, promised everyone 10,000 shares upon hire only to give a meager 4.000 (which are worth nothing anyway), then told everyone they will have a counterpart (pod) they are forced to work with - like it or not. Reps are forced to make 8 calls per day in a hospital setting - ABSOLUTELY RETARDED BIG PHARMA BULLSHIT!!! Managers are forced to ride with reps 2 days per month and micromanage the shit out of everyone. For us reps that started last November, we have had to produce at least 8 different business plans since then as well. There are knee jerk reactions on IC weighting and now layoffs A WEEK AFTER the new interim CEO promised "if you are performing, no one will lose their job" a week later, 17 reps lost their jobs unexpectedly with a total of 27 territories erased. The new CEO is still failing to explain why quotas are so astronomical when no one is even near 100% to plan. No one is making bonus either. THIS SUCKS!!!!! Mass exodus coming soon!
Not denying your points, but it just goes to show you that who your manager is at any pharma company makes a world of difference. I was also hired in November and have experienced none of what you are going through. That definitely sounds like a manager with a primary care mentality. I have a great manager and feel really blessed. Good luck, I hope things get better for you.
The 8 calls per day is the VPs idea, not a manager, but who cares the ship is sinking anyway. McGuire is a horrible leader too...no wonder that division sucked at Medco. And the investors in Melinta are sadly going to the cleaners...feel bad for them since they really lose here. If they only knew that Medco had a tradition of spreading their plague...
Thankfully most managers are not enforcing the ridiculous 8 calls p/day that the VP is asking for. And, yes, Medco folks are highly cantankerous! They failed at launching all products.
The place is sinking fast, leadership is a mess, no one knows what they are doing, divisions from the reorg have ridiculous reporting structure. The way they have the company structured reporting wise, says only one thing, a sale or a buyout is coming very very soon. CFO in charge of CMC what?? No knowledgeable GMP quality oversight anymore, hanging on by a thread.
After the bloodbath last week, please post credible information here. I think just about everyone expects the company to go bankrupt but any insight helps.
Can you elaborate on the bloodbath last week? was there a layoff? financing fall through? did they miss payroll?
