whats the starting salary and range for an Oncology rep at Amgen? I’m interviewing and am currently an Oncology rep at a smaller company but my base is $165k and am worried I may be priced out because I heard Amgen pays the lowest salaries in the industry.

I’m looking because my company will be acquired soon so big pharma seems super safe.

Why would you go here. The Amgen products suck. The culture sucks. The pay sucks. Come here if you want to suck dick of your boss to keep your job.

I make a little more than you right now in the OBU (170’s) and you would easily get a small bump to come here. I also know of several long term oncology reps making over 200k. Many years ago, Amgen underpaid oncology reps. That has changed. Salaries have gone up significantly. The only companies offering more than Amgen are start ups. But, if you look at the overall benefits package (401k, stock, vacation, retirement health savings account, health insurance, and company stability) this position is much more lucrative than you may think.

Amgen offers a great total comp for sure. Just know though.... there is more toxicity and back-stabbing among management especially here at Amgen. It's baffling as to why because this is really a great company otherwise but I've never seen managers act like this and HR support them. HR lets managers here get away with anything. It's disappointing so make sure you know that before you come onboard. This doesn't just apply to OBU. It applies to BCBU (specifically the Red & White teams) and Nephrology too. If you're happy where you are and trust your manager and team.... think before making the move.

I don’t work at Amgen but know many who do. Both reps and managers. From what I’ve heard they don’t bat an eye at salary. If they want you they will stretch some to get you.

What is the salary for an INBU rep with15+ years of experience? Please don’t tell me to go to Glassdoor because I know from looking at my own companies Glassdoor info. It is wrong! Also what would the target bonus be?

What do the colors mean? I recently applied to a job with Amgen but it didnt say which specialty/products. It only mentioned it was for the "Blue team" (overlay position)

I’m a rep with over 16 years of experience selling to both Specialty and PC. What can I expect to make as a salary in the INBU division? Is it more in the Neph. Division?

DM here and salary is 185k but I was promoted within. I’ve heard that DM’s coming from outside with experience, etc could come in at 200k. Agreed we are all overpaid for what we do, be thankful.

You'v got to be kidding me. DM's at this company are by far sub-par and they make close to $200K and then bonus on top of that?? Ridiculous. Biggest waste of money I've ever seen especially in NC!

If they’re making that much then they at least need their territories doubled. I mean please.

It depends. Amgen is a good company to work for. If you can get into the OBU that’s where you want to be. We recently had a field reorganization and we have started moving some older experienced reps out. With more reorg expected it is a great time to come in. If you have over 5 years experience expect to get 160k. Not bad and pretty good benefits.

I agree with this and should manage 10 reps for sure. Although, the problem with NC may be the hiring RSM! Realized real quick working for him as a DM would not have been a good fit for me. Based on my impression, he could use some humbleness.
