He was an arrogant prick who bullied his DMs and back stabbed his peers. Nobody shed a tear for him but AZ shouldn't be off the hook either because they made him a scapegoat for a philosophy that was preached consistently at meetings. Remember the targeting and total office call presentations where they taught reps that everyone in the office is a potential Rx?

i don’t see a problem with the concept of a total office call. Developing a good relationship with your customers is a good thing, no?

The total office stall. Ahhh yes, let’s see how long we can take in an office; pissing patients and physicians off.

We were told to team up on key offices and to target the highest writers because that was where the gold was. They referred to it as mining for gold and they would direct us to the best places to find it. The entire presentation of selling in silos and rx targeting was sold the same way. Zube was just stupid enough to put it in writing and of course all of the Senior Leaders that had used exactly the same term needed a scapegoat to wash themselves clean of it all. They could point to his prompt firing and claim to be just and honorable. The media should have dug deeper but they got their scalp.

This sounds about as idiotic as half of the other bullshit that comes out of leadership’s mouths!

Well, yeah, if you are a total douchebag, like I’m thinking you are. I personally get to know the staff and find out what interests them. They’re usually so busy taking crap from docs, sick patients, and snotty phone calls from insurances, pharmacies, etc. So imagine how happy they are to see a friendly face that just wants to know how THEY are doing? To just have a normal conversation to give them a brief moment of sanity in an otherwise office full of crazy. Those relationships will allow me to see the dr while you get turned away because he’s too busy

But you knew that already, right!?!

Oh I know you. You bring them candy and show them pictures of your kiddies. Maybe a birthday card with phony well wishes. I am sure you are a real pal in their eyes. Have they ever asked you to go to lunch with them? Of course not.

The question is why they were asking you...

These types make me want to puke. They are the ones that you count on to sing the praises of their boss at meetings. They are the ones that always have the prepared softball questions on teleconferences. They are also the ones that rarely leave home.

This is what I know. You have a false sense of reality. So the Doctor acknowledges your presence and speaks to you. Would he remember anything you said an hour later? Most likely not. You know, the word relationship can mean so many things. A pimp and his ho have a relationship, but is that good. A drug rep is actually the property of two pimps; one is the Doctor and the other is the company they work for. Again, prostitutes have a friendly face and are interested in their clients as well. So, you’re different how? You started with the douchebag comment, so you reap what you sew.

are any of Mike’s old buds still in touch with him? How’s he doing? I can’t believe it’s been 12 years. I wonder if he thinks about how much money he lost in compensation due to one stupid comment? Imagine if he was still here? The stock options? All the meetings having young sweet reps try to suck up and impress? The fine dining and splurging on the bills? The sweet excess of bigpharma!! I don’t think you get that in rink-dink hospital chains? Way too much oversight and focus on the spending. No Sofitel for you, sir!!!!

wow, clearly lots of anger and resentment bubbling below here. It’s no wonder you are ranked where you are. How about a career change? You’ve clearly checked out

The truth hurts to hear. Because one is delusional, hearing the truth can come across as anger and resentment.

Yes, and one can be so burnt out and defeated that they already view the office as a hostile environment no worthy of making an effort. They really should consider a new line of work if they don’t know how to properly do the job

Prostitutes grow numb to how they make their money. Their clients love them for the service they provide. Reps are the same way.

The guy was an arrogant jerk. He was laughed at by his managers and reps. But, the same people that promoted him turned their backs in less than 24 hours when he was fired for saying the same thing they had said dozens of times. The fact than none of them came to his defense tells you all you need to know about this company.
