The IC plan here is BS!

We need to adopt the Celgene IC. I know we aren't supposed to interact with them, but I sat down with my Otezla counterpart and she had their plan printed up. Said they have to sign off on it as reps every semester. Anyway, it's simple. Easy to understand. There is no goal that can be manipulated by senior management. Simply go sell as much as you can.

I am not making this up. For the second half of the year, she can make $55 grand! For half the year!

We suck. Adopt the Celgene plan!

They do pay their people to sell.

I have no idea how Otezla pays their people, but I do know she is everywhere. I asked her about it and she said she has nothing to do except sell. She doesn't even have to enter calls unless she samples. Says they are 100% locked in on making calls and pay for performance.

This is probably an exaggeration, but my Otezla rep says she is largely left alone to sell. Says they meet once a year for a couple days -always in Dallas so they can be near the VP of Sales home - and that if you are in a good data collection geography like Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Michigan or Louisiana you make bank.

If you are anywhere else, you do ok. She said at least 50% of the award winners are from Texas and 25% from California.

BMS clearly does not care about their core team of TOP REPS who have worked their asses off to make them money and be successful year after year after year after year. Then they decide to have a national contests using NBRX data that is no where close to being IC quality. Please.....

Bristol has lost some amazing talent lately and that trend will continue until things change.

Celgene has lost many of their tops reps too. Good Luck with who is left. The good reps have been recruited heavily by many companies and are gone. Sounds like the same at BMS.

Bristol has some reps that are leftovers from the massive layoffs the past 10 years. They wouldn’t leave no matter how many lies they have to tell.

I saw my Otezla counterpart and just asked them about IC. She said they have two components:
incentive - paid twice a year with a target of 35 but in reality if you are decent you make 50+
kickers - around 4 a year each with a top of 12 but in reality you make about 8 for 32 a year

She said the best part is that all you have to do is go see docs every day. She came from big Pharma and said it took her more than a year to get comfortable with it because she couldn't believe there wasn't a teleconference or meeting to get pulled into. She said is was actually very upsetting until she finally caught on that all she was required to do was go see docs all day long every day except for the 2 days a year they do a meeting. She said she loves it now and will leave if Amgen messes with it.

I asked my Otezla rep what she could make and she told me but I don't remember anything she said because she was so gorgeous. I'll try again.
