Its such a joke that we all sell the same thing and some people get paid $50k and others get paid $100k. Bring the lower salaries up and get them closer to industry standard. Ding ding ding this might help with retention.

Industry standard? Arbor and Industry standard? LMAO. Read the job description for a TM, 1 year non- pharma b2b sales. You are disqualified if you have pharma sales experience. That sounds like industry standard to me.

The XenoPort reps have a lot more experience than you. If you want to get up there you are going to need to change companies probably 4-5x to get the raises. Just how it is. Got to pay your dues.

Or you could wait to leave for the right offer and make 90k+ in your first switch. Top performers left for six figure bases.

Of course you can. Most places won’t take someone from 40k to over 100k though. Typically there are a few steps involved.

I was a Xenoport rep and I thankfully got out as soon as this ridiculous company bought us. I had 15+ years of pharma experience and the salaries were comparable to what Neurology reps were making...even considered lower in some cases. Arbor hires people with no experience and so they low ball you. Their starting salaries are less than what mine was in 2001. Now that they have lumped all 43 products together...there is a huge discrepancy in salary range. This company basically wants naive employees who don’t know what they don’t know,..
The people who were at Xenoport had a lot of experience and moved their salary up as they advanced.

Basically what they are saying is that our retail products aren’t very good. Regardless if I have a newbie or veteran rep, the needle isn’t changing much, so I would rather pay as little as possible. Deliver samples, buy coffee/ lunches. Why pay a premium for people to do that. Hospital is different.

That's not likely to happen if you only have a few years experience in pharma. Companies look at your current salary.

This is not true. I know a lot of Arbor employees that came into Arbor ... did their time of a year or two, jump to Novartis a competitor selling Entresto making 85-90k base ...

Making a six fig base after doing a year or two maybe hard, but 80-90k base if you have 1) industry knowledge, 2) competitor knowledge, 3) existing relationship already and show them you have consistent track record.. its possible.....

Big pharma not dumb... their product high ticket and willing to pay that little money for warm relationship already and someone who can perform a small resourceless company... they know that big pharma for these individual will be easier for them because they been through hell ... so ... do your time! its a journey, not a race.

Dave Goerz, what happened to the culture at Arbor?

It can happen. Left Arbor after 4 years making arbor pay and went to med devices and now making a six figure base and double comp. Get yourself on LinkedIn. It can happen. Good luck!
Ps- I am grateful for arbor, did my time and made a sick return on my previous poor salaries time investment. The difference between pharma and med device is really mind boggling.
