Has anyone ever wondered why there are so few minorities working for Benco? Specifically black?

And even still, no people of color in a leadership position (other than service). Always found this strange.

What? This is not true at all.

Probably because blacks only make up 1/9th the population, and account for about 1/20th those in society that have a college degree (needed here). I feel strongly that far more than 1 in 20 here (or in the industry) are black. So, to be honest, blacks are drastically OVER REPRESENTED in this company/industry. If you are black and even have just a little drive you are set up for life, and nearly unfireable....

Who is in leadership that you know of?

Ron Taylor RSM North Central region. Reigning Region of the Year. Also really great person.

But since this topic is up, what does it matter? Shouldn't any hiring decision be based on if someone had the skills and qualifications vs anything else, like race or gender? I know, I know what year it is etc etc, but why is this such a difficult thing to grasp? If someone is qualified they get hired, if they're not they don't. Does that happen, no but why make something out of nothing? What's the (your) end game here?

Director of inside sales. This entire post is completely stupid. Please don’t let this drag on. Really its just moronic.

it’s not moronic, it’s a valid question with the number of employees Benco has.

Agree with ... this is completely stupid. With everything going on in dental right now there is a dumb ass posting that he/she thinks Benco .... with Opie...George Rable leading HR is a racist company. You are an idiot.

Sounds like I hit a nerve with my question.

FWIW you don’t need a degree to work here. Many of our Sales reps don’t have a degree. And plenty of folks at CPE don’t either. But nice try.

Did I miss it or has anything been said about Black Lives Matter from anyone? There’s been crickets from what I can tell.

Tepid social media post today. We don’t employ enough black people for them to care

How many minorities were laid off 3/27/2020 forward?

Don’t we have to employ minorities first? We can’t laid them off unless we hire them

I used to be a minority in Benco. I'm very glad I left the company behind, but I cannot said I experienced discrimination in my region in any way. I heard things from some other employees in other regions, but it was never about our coworkers, it always was about some of the doctors in their regions.

I believe Benco's corporate culture is toxic af but don't think this is a big part of it, at least for what I experienced.

The fact that we employ so few is a big indication of the inherent racism. Are there any Black TR’s?ES’s? Any POC in leadership at all? The answer is no to my knowledge but please correct me if I’m wrong (I’d love to be wrong in this case).

How is it racist to not employ a POC? Seriously cut the crap. If a person is qualified they get the job. The color of a person's skin has absolutely nothing to do with anything regarding a position within this or any other company. If a POC doesn't apply then how are they supposed to be hired?? No one is owed anything. This PC garbage needs to stop, creating issues where there aren't any. Bring the hate, because you don't have a legitimate argument that's what you default to. Careful your bias/bigotry is showing.

Tripping all over your white privilege. You hate to see it.

There’s very few in the industry. That’s why you don’t see many in any distributor or manufacture

No such thing. But ok. Racist much? By attacking one shade of melanin your asserting another is better or more worthy or in need of special or exclusive rights or privileges. Continue to be ignorant and bigoted and unhappy because your probably white too and are feeling guilty because why? The media told you to be? Because why exactly? Have you openly oppressed another person because of their appearance? Then apologize to that specific person. I haven't, I don't and I won't apologize for my color, my parents, or anyone else especially people I haven't had any contact with, or are part of my lineage etc. I'm 1/5 Blackfoot Indian. I say apologize to ME! You took my ancestors land, oppressed them and continue to do so. Do Red Lives Matter? Any more than Black Lives or Brown or Yellow or Pink or whatever shade you are? Should I be given preference in hiring? Am I considered a POC? Or is that only reserved for the color Black?
