Amazing how performance played no role in determining who stayed and who left. It’s a shame

It’s not fair! All based on preference.

Agreed! 4 out of the 5 on my team let go were all in the top 5 on our team. Consistent leaders year after year! This company will be a shell of what we once were.

Are you serious that you are surprised? Or like me, you thought this would have happened a year ago?

the top rep on our team got let go.

I was kept and wish I got let go. Same pay for a territory that is sure to be double or triple in size. Plus we have to deal with the stupid and unachievable metrics dictated by the dense Greg Baker. Everyone still here will be spending what free time they have trying to get the hell out of this place.
Good luck to all separated today. You all are the real winners.

Greg Baker confirmed today that our leadership is nonexistent.

Yes, that is good, but will never work in pharma again, tarnished goods. DP won't return the phone calls.

That’s why they were let go. Old junk that belonged to the old leadership. Loyalty does not mean tenure people.

Listen. I get it. You’ve been spoon fed over and over the message that old leadership is to blame for everything that has gone wrong with the company. After YEARS of digging, you know what the DOJ found? A couple of bad apples, and not an institution-wide fraud. Do you think the government wasn’t DYING to get some executives on the hook?

Here are the facts. Old leadership made some mistakes, after building up this company from nothing, which is no small feat. When new “leadership” took over, sales immediately started stagnating, then plummeting. In my opinion Legal/Compliance did not properly protect the company and were actively trying to implicate their own organization with the government so the company could always blame their own abject failures on the “old guard” well past the time that would normally be appropriate (typically new leadership gets an 18 month reprieve to reorganize and get things moving in the right direction).

New Avanir leadership mirrors the typical Southern California Pharma/biotech model that always fails (Bringing in big Pharma VPs as C-Suite execs who know how to play the political games, but are uninquisitive and lack basic business sense), a’la Orexigen and their leadership team of Merck flunkies, Aries and their no-name exec team, and countless others that have gone belly-up just in the past couple of years.

I’m telling you now. New leadership is entirely to blame for the end of Avanir. They are simply poor business strategists and, somehow, even worse tacticians. Oh boy, can those empty suits (and boots) talk a decent game though.

Good luck to all those who have lost their livelihood, especially the home office people (since OC Pharma opportunities are few and far between). We’ve probably got 6 years left before this industry collapses. Please consider taking this opportunity to shake up your career path and get out before that happens.
