Any info on Spare reps? I have an interview soon for an Entry-Level Field Sales Chronic Care SPARE position that will require me to fill in for vacant territories or reps that go out of leave. I am currently unemployed (laid off from previous Pharma company doing basically this same position for 2 years), single, and no kids/family to take care of.

I would look elsewhere - chronic care group under constant pressure of lay offs here plus not much to sell

Former manager here, I’m sure there is internal pressure to take a job any job when you’re not working, but candidly this is not a step forward. If you can’t afford that all about I would do just that and look for a permanent position even if it was with a smaller company. It would be nice to think that this could be a steppingstone with Merck, but the reality is is I’m sure you been able to figure out the chronic care field force is definitely not expanding and continues to contract.

Don't do it! Chronic care at Merck is the bottom rung of dung across pharma. This is where the underperforming over 50 crowd goes to die, all have been passed over. Some are there as through all the recurring layoffs, HR threw darts to assign geographies. Hit up a real full time gig elsewhere, this spare crap will have you working in BFE selling crap/near patent expiry dogshit drugs. Chronic Care positions can be done by a meth head r***** with a drivers license.
BTW, all chronic care jobs are "entry level".
