Posts are by reps without an honest work ethic.

Classic someone who got fired. They are on every thread. So funny to scroll through all these different forums... you can pick out posts by people who couldn’t find another job or waiting out non-competes.

Arthrex period is the problem, they are looking for ways not to pay their agencies. As they grow and become more streamlined and organized they will continue to change compensation and in turn pay the agencies and their reps less. It’s just the nature of the beast. It doesn’t matter what company you work for these days. The golden years of the medical device business is gone. Sure there is still money to be made but not like the past. The reason I have don’t like Arthrex is the arrogance and attitude they carry with them from top to bottom. They act like they the best show in town and every surgeon who doesn’t use them or their products are fools. I don’t like that about them plus they always coming out with new products which are really repackaged old products with just a few news items in the kit and suddenly your paying double the price. A lot of surgeons I speak with won’t use Arthrex because if the reasons states above. They rather work with the smaller companies and give others a chance. Arthrex just comes across as greedy and out to put everyone out of business like they the only show in town. Don’t get me wrong they have good products but so do a lot of other people. The reps all drink the Arthrex coolaid.

Arthrex is arrogant and acts like they the only medical device company on the block. They flood the territory’s by hiring all these young kids who don’t know a thing about sales or medical education. They are cheapening their brand by hiring all these people who are unqualified and to make matters worse the distributors don’t train these people properly. Territory managers throw these young kids to the wolves in hoes they figure it out. Arthrex really needs to invest more time and capital into properly sourcing talent and training new hires.

What commission percent do the distributors get? How much of it is given to their reps?

At least 30% and give the reps nowadays 4-5% plus all expenses / inventory -shipping- labs, etc.... same greedy bastards. Start if lucky at 4-5% and then wait for the next cut - because it will come w/in next 12-14 mos.

If the orthopedic industry were compared to the financial industry then Arthrex would be the payday loan company.

Who are the best payers in the industry right now? I heard that Wright is paying good shit now since they lost a bunch of reps to smaller companies. Too bad they are gone to Stryker.
I have some colleagues at ZB and DepuySynthes and they said pay is "okayish"

Ryan Keenan a sports rep out in Suffolk Long Island who works for Tom “I’m never working in my territory “ Zummo. He is young, nice guy played Lax I believe at Penn St. You wanna get the real story about how bad Gotham surgical is? Just talk to anyone of the reps on LI and let them tell you. Moral is so low out there it’s palpable. A lot of good reps have left for various reasons.

Gotham Surgical/ Arthrex is not a good place to
work at. If you got in back in early to mid 2000’s you did well but not today. Arthrex has grown so much over the last 20 years that they don’t need to pay top dollar to hire or retain reps for that matter. They have done such a tremendous job at training fellows/residents and surgeons that most ortho’s use them in some capacity today. If your at Arthrex get the training and experience then leave to go work for a competitor you will be paid more. It’s no secret that Arthrex lowest paying med device company.
