The USPTO's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has agreed to review the validity of Intuitive Surgical's (ISRG +1.4%) U.S. Patent No. 8,801,601 covering its surgical navigation guidance system.

it is a patent to protect patients from inadvertent organ perforations!! What a novel idea, Intuitive Surgical!!! What is the death toll for victims who have died because of the current flawed design?

Happy New Year! It’s gonna be hard to top all of the success DWAS had in 2019, but I think 2020 will be even better!!!

Really a scam. I think everyday what most of the posters said. But I think the robot users really believe in it but all brain washed by intuitive

Brain washed? Really? These highly trained professionals aren’t able to think for themselves. Is that what you’re saying? I thought all the nonsensical bullshit left this site when Albert & Theresa’s asses were kicked to the curb. Now we have another idiot trying to impress the masses with their cutting edge insight. Get off the generic meds!

Thank God for the ISI reps still trolling DWAS! You guys really do such important work on this thread! Thanks for keeping all these dangerous rogue survivors in check!

In the FDA’s warning letter on robotic surgery released in February of 2019, it is stated:

“To date, the FDA has not granted marketing authorization for any robotically-assisted surgical device for use in the United States for the prevention or treatment of cancer, including breast cancer. The labeling for robotically-assisted surgical devices that are legally marketed in the United States includes statements that cancer treatment outcomes using the device have not been evaluated by the FDA.”
    https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/safety-communications/caution-when-using-robotically-assisted-surgical-devices-womens-health-including-mastectomy-and

However, ISI is blatantly ignoring this warning and continues to market and promote the davinci robot for cancer related procedures:

“ A review of published studies suggests that potential benefits of a hysterectomy for cancer with da Vinci technology include:

    • Compared to patients who had an open procedure, patients who had a hysterectomy with da Vinci experienced fewer complications8-11 and stayed in the hospital for less time.8-12
    • Compared to patients who had a laparoscopic procedure, patients who had a hysterectomy with da Vinci had fewer, or similar, complications8,10-12 and stayed in the hospital for the same, or less, time.8,10-12
    • Surgeons may switch to an open procedure when doing a procedure with da Vinci with the same likelihood, or possibly less, compared to a laparoscopic surgery.8,10-12”

It is very obvious a line needs to be drawn and enforced on this topic. What publications are ISI referencing? Studies and publications they themselves conducted, paid for, or a conflict of interest existed? I reviewed these publications ISI claims identify the robot is beneficial in cancer related surgeries- not one discusses “local cancer recurrence, disease-free survival, or overall survival over any time period ...”.

Plans to fix your pos stapler, ISI!??

The patient was in the operating room undergoing a right robotic assisted procedure for a pulmonary nodule. Incision was made in the ninth intercostal space and an assistant port was placed in the 10th intercostal space posterior axillary line. The surgeon was at the robotic console and when he was ready to dissect the lung tissue off of the pulmonary artery from the fissure to the hilum, he slid the straight robotic stapler with green reload onto the tissue and clamped the stapler onto the parenchymal tissue. The surgeon saw the message "ready to fire" and when he fired the stapler slid off the tissue and the knife continued to deploy causing a tear of the parenchymal tissue. Pressure was applied to control the bleeding. Out of concern for friable lymph nodes, blood loss and potential injury to the pulmonary artery, the procedure was converted to an open thoracotomy. The bleeding was controlled and the 2 cm tear was repaired. A chest tube was placed. Estimated blood loss was 250cc. The surgery was completed and the patient required an additional two days in the hospital. The sureform 45 straight stapler malfunctioned on the 5th fire of the stapler.

    Finally - ISI trolls defined!

term to add to your urban dictionary: Sea Lioning:

Sealioning (also spelled sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment which consists of pursuing people with persistent requests for evidence or repeated questions, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity. It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate".

These folks aren’t interested in honest “debate”, just attention and deflection seeking. You’ll just get tired and frustrated trying to have a real conversation with them.

so many recalls this month - and yes, the stapler issue mentioned makes up at least two. No wonder all went silent with the ISI trolls when this was brought up.

along with the stapler issue “Manufacturer Reason for Recall Failure of Universal Surgical Manipulators due to a high friction points, resulting in an increase of arm movement to include: feelings of resistance, hesitation, and jerking.” So much for all the hype around surgeons stating they are “always” in control of the robot.... DaVinci- what a scam!!

    give what up?

the davinci related deaths are increasing and so are the recalls.

    please advise

Stay in your lane. Your uneducated and ill advised nonsensical assertions will only serve to show you as the fool you are. Look what happened to Albert, Teresa and the few other idiots who were leading the charge here not too long ago.

who is the fool? All of the lanes are mine.

what is your obsession with previous survivors of davinci surgeries? Move on - They did and happily so. it’s a new day. You have an entire new generation of cases pending right now based on the new list of recalls and enormous increase in reported deaths to the FDA.

With all of the patent wars and new innovations from competitors, I would think you have a lot of other boards to troll. Has ISI found a way to actually incorporate machine learning and analytics into the davinci robot or is it still just a gimmicky remote controlled dinosaur?

you certainly claim to know a lot about who is and who isn’t posting on this message board. Kind of sad and desperate. Prayers you find something worthwhile to spend your time on instead of attempting to discredit victims of the davinci robot.
