Not quite sure if this is Karma...I know several people that work for Intuitive Surgical and even the reps make over $250K per year. They sell the DaVinci robot to hospital systems and the required training to operate it to physicians. This is certainly not one of those "just a rep" jobs. That may have been the smartest move he has ever made. He will be in a much better position, with an exceptional company, making a ton of money!
Except you are forgetting he will have to sell the product!! He will have to develop relationships and he has no people skills at all. As you say their sales people can make lots of money but they can aslo starve. My bet is he will starve because he will not be able to sell a thing.

I cant' wait until something goes wrong with an account, an order or anything else and he tries to blame another for his mistake. He was very good at blaming everybody else in the Midwest for his poor performance so I do not see him changing his ways at a different company. Except as a rep, if he points a finger now someone will break it!!!
It is Karma!! Inutitive is very much a "burn and churn" sales organization. They grind up their sales people and spit them out. Joe is now going to get a dose of his own medicine and I dont think he will last six months there. I just wish I could watch it happen !!!
