Had anyone ever had a doctor dispute a lunch charge??? I had a lunch at a big clinic and didn’t have enough signatures so I wrote in a doctor that used to come in all of the time. Then realized he retired....do doctors really check that stuff?

Yes they do and CMS always emails them for the government MMPI list.

Call ur DM, they are your friend and follow up with an email with these details. They can and will cover for you. I’m sure this is a one off first time.

This physician like all other HCPS will receive a 1099 from the IRS for the value of the lunch provided.
In other words the doc will be paying taxes on the lunch that you fraudulently identified him as a beneficiary.

I said earlier contact your DM, explain the whole thing and follow up with an email
I don’t know why you don’t understand my first message but perhaps this is another flaw in your character

maybe because I would rather ask for forgiveness and cross my fingers it never comes up. Chances of a doctor actually disputing are slim to none. They don’t pay taxes on it.

Don't listen to the person typing in 96-font, they are clearly insane. No one is getting 1099s for a half of a Panera sandwich and a cup of iced tea.

Honest mistake, just shoot your dm or compliance/expense dept. an email so it's on record. These lunch-type expenses will appear on providers' Sunshine report, so if it's someone who is adamant about not accepting meals they might dispute it. I have very few like this ( but do have a few and completely understand their perspective) bc they realize you are feeding their staff and are generally appreciative of that.

I totally agree with this, just make sure that you don't make a mistake like this again @TS
