Wow - you marketers are totally disconnected with the reality of the field......as evidenced by this post. YOUR GLOSSY CVA'S DON'T MOVE PRODUCT - PEOPLE DO. If you think otherwise then go down to one of our offices and ask them this very same question.

Considering the opportunity for practices to avoid all reps during this time. There is a good chance that going forward, they will pick and choose those that truly bring value to the practice. Genentech does not bring value anymore, don’t expect to be welcomed back in

In all honesty, once everything is back to normal, a lot closure is needed. The covid19 situation has proven a lot of jobs in Genentech as non essential. It’s been all lies. Just busy body work that leads to nowhere. Genentech is a flu incubator. They never clean out their vents. The reason many get sick at their office sites.

If I bring Starbucks or Jimmy John sandwiches, I will be let in. If I don't, then I won't. This same formula has held true for the 13 years I've been in the field.

It doesn't matter if the armband I've worn says Genentech or Pfizer or J&J. The only value we provide is feeding their staff. Most of us have zero medical training and aren't qualified to teach medical professionals anything. Let's cut the bullshit and be honest about what this job is and what it isn't.

It doesn't matter if your title says CS, COS, or TAM. It's all the same thing to the customer. We are the equivalent of UberEats, Postmates, and DoorDash.

You are pathetic. You and others like you that haul in crap and sit on your ass is the reason you are being cut. Without food you never got in period. Take your check and have mom do your laundry you POS.

You're ignoring his/her point. Even if you somehow manage to get in, you aren't adding value unless you bring a meal. Why? Because you aren't qualified to provide nuanced clinical education.

This isn't a condemnation of effort or will. Instead, it highlights that the role shouldn't exist because it adds very little value to customers, and ultimately, to patients.

So let me get this straight all the company’s successes are a result of marketing and any of the countless mistakes are poor execution from sales? All of the messaging, contracting decisions, and clinical trial designs were the direct result of collaboration with sales? Its a shame shame this company has so many finger pointers..god help the ecosystems, it is going to be hard for change to happen when gene is stuck in the past with same old success stories that got us here in the first place.

You are an idiot. Go set up another marketing meeting and take credit for market growth from your glossy POS. Somehow you believe that field activity has zero impact at the customer level.
May your model see it’s day and then your glossy POS marketing piece will have to show how it can “deliver value” and continue to grow the market.

Don't knock the fact that food provides access. Because of the food reps are able to be in the accounts consistently. .I wish I could say that for the entire LMU but we all know that is hardly the case.

Hey where did you get your medical degree. You don’t know crap about any of the drugs you peddle except what they taught you in so called training school. All your allowed to communicate now is what’s in the package insert. Takes a brilliant person to do that the pharma party will be over soon and the only losers will be you over paid reps getting a real job

Sadly you seem a bit upset? Now go pick up your laundry for mom and clean your room.

So explain to me the value of marketing since sales is an extension of that? Perhaps you would like the MSLs go represent the product on a daily basis? Try finding one. The value of the rep is in the repetition of the brand name and features and benefits so we can sell more product and pay your salary. Perhaps a class in business 101 would be of benefit.

Get a clue everyone! The gig is up for sales team, this gravy train is coming to an end!

Too many arrogant old, entitled, sales reps and self-serving managers protecting their turf. Think they do something special by sleeping-in late and then starting/ending their day with a lunch after showing up in their fancy European sports cars.

Fact is that customers hate most reps, they bring almost zero value for customers with very little ROI for the company.

Genentech is just the first to eliminate these cushy, expensive positions and focus where the value and talent exists.

Reps/DSMs/RSD's should just leave, be grateful to have milked this Ponzi scheme deal as long as they did!

Ha Ha Ha! Wise words, yep this has been a great ride.

I’ve felt guilty about it for years, especially when you see people starving, homeless, and patients who can’t handle their OOP never getting treated with these ridiculously priced drugs.

Looking for my retention $ and a fat severance to get away from this job.

idk about going back to this place. Genentech has the work spaces close to everyone. Its a logistical nightmare for social distancing. Genentech could be a death knell for covid spike. It is bad enough leadership doesn't know how to lead, let alone, letting them lead the social distancing aspect. Plus, there is a lot of mouth breathers there. Horrible place.
