Implant rep here, i see consolidation happening. I think implant direct will sack most reps if not all as will neodent. These will likely be sold by nobel and straumann respectively. I think companies will cut RM and AD positions as well, no reason to be very management heavy. I do think its possible TR could be cut from some of the companies, i think itll happen with smaller value brands first before premium. Premium will wait till later this year (unless selling a low cost sister implant, theyll likely be immune). Some areas in major cities might cut a rep or two, no reason to have a half dozen reps in Chicago selling the same screw. Its a little tougher when youve got a rep covering massive territory getographically in the midwest. Specialist positions will likely be cut as well. Lab/digital reps will likely be reduced, DSO reps could be cut, anything specialty involved that really doesnt do anything will likely be cut. In my company, my institution rep has never visited my school or my other speciality accounts in at least 3y, not like theyre running my surgical trainings and invested. So what, i need to email them to check on a pricing agreement or see what we can do for deals??? uselsess

distributor companies will be screwed. imaging reps will be ok for a bit, as they live of of a draw or 1099, so the company isnt really losing money. Long term, shit will return to normal i think next year, i think the fear will subside later this year and by next summer well be back to holding study clubs and what not with docs and cold calling. America luckily seems to shrug this stuff off quick once its somewhat behind us. By then we should have better treatments, the reality of how few people are dying and critically sick will set in, and life will go on. I do think going forward there will be a push for online CE, vs brining in speakers for large groups of docs. It gets a message out, docs can participate at office or home, cost for companies is much lower,

No, continue to stay home for your safety. Nobody is calling on your accounts so I am sure you will be fine. Take a nice Mexican vacation for the rest of the year.

Will your state open up meetings again? Will doctors attend?

Our state is open and business is booming . We have a meeting at the end of this year. I was told vendor hall would be open and in person classes resumed.

    "New Era" LOL

Docs are broke and view reps as smoke and mirrors/inconvenience. At least reps can join the club with them...in the red

"Doctor, you can't replace the value of someone coming into your office to sell you overpriced products you can get from ten websites. We answer the phone and once every six months, we save you the trouble of writing an email to a vendor. For the trouble, you'll pay an extra 10% on your supply bill, I'll flirt with your girls, get your dog pregnant, and eat out of the garbage cans in the waiting room."

Dental reps. What a worthless bunch of LOSERS

Ahhh! The old "I don't work Fridays" saw.

But, you do spend three or four hours planning your following week and another hour on conference calls on Friday. That is, btw, after being on the road for 10-12 hours Monday through Thursdays. Not to mention, most new offices are opening Fridays, so the half-day Friday will soon be a thing of the past, and the dental rep will be like the poor SOB route sales rep that stocks potato chips for 80 hours a week.

You are correct. I work in an office setting now. No, there is no cubicle or pod. I work in a white collar job around interesting people and I'm treated extremely well. Enjoy some scumbag yelling at you 3x a month for your call counts being a little low and enjoy peeing in a jug. But at least you get to leave at 3 on Fridays, LOSER

What sector of dental is most lucrative these days? Major equipment vendors? Practice brokerage? Established retail reps? Implants?

Keep away from Salvin!!!!! See the Salvin Imploding Thread. Then go to Glassdoor. The positive reviews were written by management or employees with guns to their heads. If you are into liars, deception, racism and humiliation join them.
