J&J realized that the project scope, complexity, and timeline are much bigger and longer than they can stomach.
You just can't build robot overnight.

The project was not progressing as expected. Too much hypes but very little achievement.

I’ve had market development reps from robotics visit surgeons in my territory. A great PowerPoint presentation and impressed surgeons. After the visit, the MD reps tell me there are no deliverables to the field for YEARS!!

It only exists on PowerPoint for the next few years. By the time we come out with one, other robots will already be 3-4 steps ahead.

There is no way Ethicon can compete in a digital space. Tech is a fast paced world where creativity is embraced and rewarded. JNJ is a New Jersey company and last I checked outside of Jersey Shore, nothing comes out of there that is creative, technical, or intelligent
Your response is going to be Digital Surgery is in California and you are correct they are. But the shots are still called in New Jersey. That robot has gone back to the drawing board again to try to combine what Verb had and what Auris has.
Intuitive is getting smarter and starting to work with hospitals vs cramming things down their throat. That was the opening and the lack of engineering ability along with the old blue blood of JNJ just doesn’t line up. But hey we have a bunch of MBA’s from Worton, Duke and Northwestern. Those sound like diverse schools......QUOTE="anonymous, post: 6349147"]J&J realized that the project scope, complexity, and timeline are much bigger and longer than they can stomach.

JNJ leaders are easily fooled and bribed. Why do you think one of the board member from McKinsey? Most big transformations were initiated by them where JNJ pays $400-500/hours to sell ideas.

2024 now for North America which really means we have no idea what we are doing.

And even when it does come out you still won’t be able to count robotic stapling because they are not a full line supplier. So Intuitive just needs to pull the same thing that Applied Medical did and you won’t count them against any compliance

Intuitive is out building surgeons practices, and JNJ legal says you can’t

please honestly, who would you work with?

Neither. Left med device a couple years ago from Ethicon. JnJ's Credo kool aid is a worn out trope at this point. My W2s showed less pay every year despite hitting quota all but one year. Never worked for intuitive, but I am good friends with several reps. A bloodthirsty, uncaring company that drives relentless growth. Turnover is the norm. But they pay well...at the expense of what? My sense fulfillment? No thanks. There are plenty of other companies out there that pay better than Ethicon (not as well as INT) but are so much more fulfilling. I work directly with patients, actually delivering value to them, and I get paid to do it. I see the difference. And I don't have to sell my soul to make a living anymore.

Just to support it, several AURIS sales positions just recently posted. That is the sign of the end of J&J and Google collaborations which would never lift off in the first place.

We tried to work with our legal to count stapling compliance against Intuitive but our legal team say NO YOU CAN'T.
We are pretty much dead in the water from the beginning.
