Analysis shows a large number HCP ordering samples online. They know how and they don’t mind doing it. The rep. access will further deteriorate and your catering career will soon go the way of the dinosaur. The Lundbeck psychiatry CSO will be a Veeva call center within 12 months.

What’s your backup plan? New company or new career?

    Agreed
I’ve been back in the field and the dynamics are different. Access is very tight and it may get a little better moving forward however, I doubt it ever goes back to normal. Clinics order samples online and providers doing primarily telemedicine.
Probably continue to have some sort of presence but I see no way the industry can maintain the status quo. As soon as one of the big boys dives in a major restructuring Lundbeck will follow. I think maybe 1 rep territory combined with some sort of virtual presence from a call center. That lets upper management keep their gigs while cutting sales force in half and shuffling a few managers aside.

The ability of HCPs to order from My Sample Closet and SRF will be gone when offices are open again.

Sounds like a good business plan to me.

Says who? Lundbeck does not own nor have any voice in the game. Takeda is not going to end Mysample closet because their reps are still at home, Trintellix is an afterthought for them and they are about to undergo a big re structure. Otsuka is tossing samples like water and they are ready to go virtual, still maintaining a quota of Veeva engage calls for their reps in the field stating unequivocally it’s their future. Sorry pharma rep, it’s here to stay unlike your career.

I know the consultants are lining their pockets with lots of ideas regarding methods to engage physicians on a virtual platform. Pharma is a cash cow for these guys, their advice is designed to keep companies on edge and in need of their MBA bull shit. Good luck guys.

Just remember. They still haven’t figured out how to remove the rep from the sales equation. Oh they would love to, but they just can’t come up with some that hat would allow them to get rid of all of us. Remember, without us, JA, PA and Tres are pretty much gone too. What they will come up with is a plan to reduce headcount dramatically, but not completely.

We all have to be realistic about our situation. Lundbeck is in business to make a profit, and how long can this ultra expensive platform continue? Think about it, most of what we do is lie, or “set up” management to make them think this thing is really working. The vaccine from AZ appears to only going to be around 50% effective! So it’s no different than flipping a coin about whether you will get, or transmit it to someone else. The virus will force pharma companies to re do the way they market drugs. The question is how.

Why haven’t they furloughed 50 percent of the psychiatry sales force yet and gone to 1 rep per territory until an effective vaccine is released? There is barley enough people to see for one person to cover each territory! Do they think releasing a PCP list for us to call on is going to allow us to have more calls per day since most psychs are working from home? Wrong! We dont have relationships with them and they will never see us during a pandemic virtually or on person. Plus no one in their right mind would try and enter a PCP office right now with the Coronavirus!

I’m in the field and can only see maybe 20% of our providers. Offices are open but not to reps. My best friend does resp pc for gsk. She said it’s worse in pc. They didn’t really want to see reps prior and now almost all clinics are open but not allowing reps in.

As long as overall revenue does not drop off the cliff they won’t do anything. Any big changes would risk displacement of our leadership which they don’t want. They no our activities are total bull shit and they just cover their eyes

If your company is struggling and desperate, they will find who is disposable. It’s likely the rep that insists on sitting at home.

This is the best setup I have ever seen in my career! Think about it, we stay home and basically lie about talking to providers, maybe make a few office contacts a week, and spend time relaxing and do(no whatever we want. There’s no sign that anything is going to change in the near future. Just relax and enjoy this while we can.

That’s one way to look at it. So long as you’re not surprised when the layoffs come.

Totally agree! Hey Tres and company you want fake calls you got them! You really think we are talking to customers? Try office staff if anyone at all! Thanks for the paycheck!

No layoffs planned, life is grand! I made a little rhyme didn’t I? Ha! Ha!

Made 5 phone calls today and only got to the receptionist. I gave it a shot though. Didn’t need anything. Samples doing great. Doing no PA’s at 3 of the offices anymore, and they try the good old generics first because no PA’s to get them. Nobody wanted to set a lunch, but I could try later, but don’t plan on talking with the docs. I thanked them all for their time. Now on to the pool!

Exactly!!!!I I love the shut down, almost 4 months vacation. How can you beat that? fake a few Zoom calls and BS my stupid manager who loves to hear that it "was a great zoom call with all provides and holding the doctor accountable!"
A complete load of garbage but that's what they want to hear
