  1. As a forner ZB Rep who started in the early 2000s (Sulzer), and left after almost 2 decades of implant sales, both companies are shells of what they were. ZB is reactive, not proactive, and never had the fore-sight of industry trends. That’s why they tried to run with the 3.1mm implant (New surgical kit/new line) and dropped the 3.3mm (tried and true). Mistake. Align, has lost the majority of patents that made them exclusive. There are a dozen companies that can produce clear aligners without the cost and monthly fees. At the same time, the TSV (best implant ever for GPS) was wasted by management long before the Biomet acquisition. The CEREC Primescan can do everything Align can do AND make the best damn crowns in the CAD/CAM industry. ZB reps selling iTero is about as productive as Coors selling Hot Pockets.

Clones osseointegrate the same as any implant these days. ZB is too reactive and not proactive. Prosthetics are now being milled of Ti-bases or outright. Align lost all its patents that made it unique. CEREC Primescan, and many others, can do the same plus a whole lot more. I pushed implants for 20 years. It’s a commodity. Just like clear-aligners. Time to move on, reps. It sucks but it’s the nature of the industry.

I am so tired of iTero and Implant Concierge dominating all the company calls and every conversation that I have with my RM. WHO CARES? I am an implant salesman, and I work hard to build my dental practices. If a scanner is a good fit, then the doctor and I will find one that fits his needs, FYI probably not an iTero with their $30k price tag and huge monthly fees. If my doctor wants to get into guided surgery then I will discuss implant concierge with him.

However I am not out every day trying to sell these fringe products. I will not grow my territory through IC or iTero. How is it that our entire leadership team has lost their way? We sell titanium. Lots of it. At least we used to.

Wake up Nan! Quit this stupid iTero mistake. Regain focus. Let’s make innovative, quality implants and sell them everyday. Stop burying the lead.

Thank you. I can’t agree with you more. These are fringe products at best, and somehow they have become the very focus of our leadership. Enough already.

When it comes to implant concierge it is a truly confusing relationship. Zimmer Biomet owns them, but they aren’t allowed to tell anyone that we own them. Then on top of that we continue to allow them to be a resource for our competitors? Get a clue.

Go away iTero. You too IC.

to be fair y’all haven’t sold a lot of titanium in a long, long time. Must be refreshing to have a new product to sell seeing your zimmer Implants are as old as a lot of the geriatric patients that get them. As for 3i, they haven’t had an implant that works well in a looooooooong time!

I will start this off by saying that I am an Align/iTero employee, but his is my first comment on this thread. My God, is this info incorrect, maybe talk to your iTero TM about pricing. There is no, $2k fee per month, we wouldn't sell any machines if this were the case. It is $360 per month after the first year and includes upgrades, unlimited data storage, software upgrades, warranty and support. Every system has some type of fees, it might be called data, warranty or something else, but fees are there. It is like owning a phone with a monthly data charge. Also, there are no click charges with iTero, that was stopped 7 years ago.

What is the deal with Implant Concierge? Why would ZBD purchase this company? They are already available to help our docs, and now that we purchased them our docs still have to pay for the service. On top of that IC is still providing service to our competitors, and many of them are getting a heavily discounted price for the service that our doctors are paying full price for.

Does ZBD even have a business plan? It looks like Nan, Ivan and Pedro are just trying to look busy by creating things to talk about, even if those things don’t create any strategic advantage.

    Hey helpful align rep-
What are the additional Medit fees?

Let me ask you a different question Align rep.

What do your customers think when they find out that a smaller, faster, more accurate, scanner is available for half the price? And all that with no subscription fees?

ITero has no place in the implant market. They are very good at invisialign, but if you don't want to buy those overpriced aligners it doesn’t belong in your dental practice. Just ask them about their relationship with smile direct club.

Does the medit just do impressions or does it have any of the same features of Itero like the time lapse, etc?

It does not appear that Align reps like to discuss the Medit scanner. Their silence tells the whole story.

The only medit fee is $25 for optional expandable storage, AND their support is fuckin good and are getting new features every month with updates it seems.

As I sit on todays conference call announcing the changes to our comp plan, and listen to why these changes are so beneficial to me, I cant help but wonder if the iTero rep in my state has to sell 100 implants in my territory in Q3 and Q4 for qualify for his quarterly bonus?

Maybe that is why there were no questions at the end. We aren’t a quiet bunch, we are just wondering how we ended up here. WE DO NOT WORK FOR iTERO.

Very Zimmer Dental of us to make reps sign a comp plan that changes every year, then adjust it and change it three times during that year. Corporate is so excited to tell the world that they are taking such good care of the reps in the field.
    “We didn’t lay anyone off!”

Why would you layoff your sales force? We are the people that drive this business. Not all the geniuses that are sitting in cubicles in Florida, promising other companies that their over worked and strung out sales force will sell their products too.

How is it possible that i love my job and hate my company?

Sell ITero or don’t get paid. And I agree ITero has been the worst partner with the worst reps
