Agree with keeping up to date, however, company will not allow you to discuss beyond the selling points to demonstrate efficacy and safety. I agree, but question what Pfizer thinks of it

Biotech can not walk in the shoes of a good Pfizer rep as we are more well rounded

...said no one ever. You are a robot regurgitating marketing sound bites. Hiring managers steer clear of Pfizerbots. You are literally the least respected sales force in the biz.

I disagree. I think the lawyers and marketing want to take complete control over what is communicated. As a result, they do not train the reps to think for themselves with even approved clinicals

If you want to get into biotech do some networking with biotech reps. Pfizer reps tend to stick together or are loners so they're not known or taken very seriously.

Hiring managers view Pfizer reps as the absolute worst in the business. Too ridged, too programmed, no thoughts of their own, and terrible at the clinical side. You guys get expense reports and admin in on time and that’s about it...and who really cares about that stuff as it doesn’t drive results.

As a former manager I concur; the company really only wants you to spit out the marketing message, I.e. read the slides. It’s all about legal and compliance. Writing the 2.3B check about 15 years ago killed all innovation in communications to providers. Sad but true.

Pfizer, AZ, GSK, etc. you guys are all robots. I used to work for one of your clown car marketing companies and I was constantly put down by management. They hated me and I hated them. Turns out I was being managed by people dumber than me. I didn’t realize that until I got into rare disease. Fast forward many years later. This winter I beat out one of your Vyndaqel meal providers for a job with Alnylam in a territory I’ve never worked before. My stock options are worth $100k and I make the salary quoted previously in this thread. If you’re successful at a place like Pfizer you’ll never make it in biotech. You have no idea how to think for yourself and make good decisions with little guidance.

Now get off cafepharma and go back to Veeva engage.

What the pandemic has shown is that pharma reps are pretty worthless and not needed in the mass numbers. Expect huge layoffs

    Exactly!!!!
If sales did not drop much last 5 months then reps are not needed or at most 1 virtual rep for 10 live reps.
This was a suprise & accidental pilot for Pfizer whose marketing teams are all about more reps for SOV thus 2-3 reps per geography.
Now that is down the toliet & biggest layoffs ever coming

imagine if the physician asks a question about the product , patient type, insurance coverage, or clinical data.
The poor rep can only spit out designated marketing points where they should be able to get into a good clinical, medical discussion. That is the rep that a physician will respect.

Well they can...once they leave Pfizer.
